Ive finally got the notification on my car dash to do a transmission fluid change at around 55K miles.

I tried to find the intervals that’s recommended but it’s incredibly difficult to find. The owners manual doesn’t have anything, and online reveals every 30K I should be doing this but never have been recommended when I bring it for service nor do I remember the service light coming on to say I needed it.

I got quoted 300+ dollars for a flush at atleast two shops.

I’m more than capable of doing a drain and fill myself. But I wanted Hondas specific recommendations and can’t find it anywhere it just states change but nothing about a flush or drain and fill.

My two questions are:

1.Does anyone know where I could find the official recommendations?

2.would a drain and fill be fine or should I fork over the money to have a flush done.

with all automatics never ever ever get them flushed, just drain and fill that’s plenty enough. as for mileage intervals id do cvts and dcts every 30-40k miles, however the upper end for pretty much all autos is every 60k miles. if you’re looking for official recommendations good luck, many automakers don’t specify transmission mileages anymore as they claim the fluid is “lifetime” which is definitely not true. but stick to the general rule of thumb of 30-60k miles depending on transmission

Make sure they swap out the filter on a drain and fill. If it came full of oil, it stays full of oil. Unless you take it apart.
