Meanwhile kia EV9 launched in my country at approx USD 109,000
is everyone just going to lose money in China to keep marketshare?
Another bland SUV…
Why do EVs cost so much more in USA?
I wish they would’ve made this one here rather than the EV6. Even with a 27% tariff coming from overseas it’s still sub $30K for the base model and for the extended range it would be just over $30K + taxes + destination charges.
I’m driving a 2011 Ford Flex and am a fan of boxy vehicles. I’ve been waiting for an EV to come out that kind of hits those design marks for me and this one is it. I don’t need a third row any more and I don’t want to pay $80K for a new car so I’m not interested in the EV9 even though its great looking.
Batteries not included
Doesn’t matter, it will be 30K + after the dealer fees and markup. I’m just going to get a Tesla so I don’t have to go through a dealership
E-GMP version of the Niro EV? Yes, please!
That’s exactly what I was thinking! Too bad I already paid 2.5x as much for my Niro, but I love it anyways!
Liberate it in America.
64.2kWh battery pack in the $20k version. That probably means 200 miles of real world range if you’re lucky. Even the 88kWh version is pretty competitively priced.

Ummm… My Kia Niro, which is about the same size as an EV 5, has a 64 kWh pack and the real world range is actually quite a bit better than 200 miles on a full charge. At 80% it still has around 200 miles of range even in cooler weather, no luck required. Jus’ sayin’.
Isn’t it weird that this looks exactly like an EV9?
How are they making them so cheap? Is it taxes? If it comes to Europe does it automatically double in price? I feel that’s what’s happening to any EV that tries it.
Nobody in China buys Korean cars same with it’s phones
Because they are sucks. Tesla and Apple sell very good in China.
Hmm. What other people call range, anxiety, I call getting to the big city. The long range vehicle would actually let me get to Vancouver from where I live.
Enough range to go to town for the day, have a nice dinner, do some shopping, then head back home.
$20k - how’s that even possible?
