Have been playing Elden Ring a lot on the Deck and it was a pretty great experience already, mostly 30fps but some bad stuttering and frame drops in certain areas of the map on high but still very playable.

The game feels waaaay smoother now and the few drops I experienced were extremely minor. Super ACTUAL rock solid 30fps. I even got stable 40fps in a dungeon.

In addition, because of the SMT fix, the annoying frame pacing issues on GameCube and Wii games is now completely gone. Mario kart Wii was especially bad, now 100% perfect from what I can tell.

Post the improvements you’ve noticed!

Wow yeah you weren’t kidding. Went from mid-30’s (had to lock to 30fps) to rock solid 45 lock in warframe steel path undercroft.

Same question here… Anyone tech savvy and brave enough to do some extensive tests before the weekend starts ? The commoners need to know.

I had to factory reset a few days ago after Cryoutilities broke some symlinks and certain games would not reinstall and giving me a Disk Write error. Going to just wing it stock on 3.5 for a bit.

I hate to reset to factory settings after installing cryo,it ran for a couple of days then nothing would load,no games would run at all,not sure if it was actually down to cryo,I honestly didn’t see an improvement whilst using it anyway, and it made cyberpunk and rdr2 worse

That’s a shame, guess I’m not the only one then. I’d say it helped with performance on a few select games for me prior to 3.5, but post update the gains were a little more fuzzy and probably closer to placebo level. That’s just my experience after reverting back to stock.

Anyone else getting massive frame drops when FSR is enabled in this build? I just tested a few games docked and they go from 60fps to around 15fps.

FSR still works great for me. On some games it’s the NIS mode that can get a bit laggy for me where FSR runs fine.

Yeah actually I noticed this too, specifically with Dynasty Warriors 8 Empires. Played it the other night with the official dock at 1080p with fsr and performance was fine, maybe 80 percent or gpu utilization and cpu was like 20ish percent I believe. Wasn’t dropping any frames. Now after the update it hits like 35ish with fsr and 30 with nis. Turning off fsr fixed the performance. So if you figure anything out that’d be cool

So far NBA 2k23 which I could almost bet would freeze if I paused it for very long or almost a guarantee on some games completely crashing (all my league play no online play which I don’t play in sports games) now I’ve played two solid games and no issues whatsoever and it’s great because I’m in the playoffs lol

Yup, I switch to preview and the later parts of Oxygen Not Included which use to get a bit laggy, are smooth now. The presence is real with the update. And they just fixed the notification lag too so now it’s even better.

Has external monitor support been fixed on 3.5? I’ve heard prior test versions of 3.5 broke external monitor / docking support.

So mix updates and overall dev optimization, the Decks potentially a real game changer compared to the big 3.

It even fixed a very annoying bug that is exclusive to SteamOS that made doing certain things in konsole not work as they should’ve. If it lasts then I’m happy, if it goes back to being broken after some time I’ll go back to hating my device😂

Downloaded the 3.5 update and as it feels good overally, I’ve been having weird experience with my most played game: Diablo 4. Before I had smooth and stable 60fps all the time. Now, after the update, my fps drops significantly (30-50fps) whenever I enter into combat and it even wont get back to 60fps. No graphical settings has been changes, quite disappointed. Now I am wondering how to revert back to 3.4.

Any tips? I tried Mario Odyssey again and it couldn’t quite hold 60 by default, so I had to resort to the handheld mode + disabling SMT in powertools to get a stable 60. Could there be any emulator settings I have set wrong or missed turning on/off? Resolution is at native 1x 720p/1080p and GPU accuracy is set to Normal.
