Now do the 4Runner!!
Been waiting for the hybrid Camry to come out, hoping the price point is better (lower) than the Crown. I want the hybrid Camry to compliment my Tacoma. Keep the Tacoma for the work/camping related tasks and have the hybrid Camry for date nights with the long term girlfriend and trips. I’m sure it’ll be much more comfortable than the Taco on road trips!
Unpopular opinion: the epitome of mass market car design was the tenth gen honda civic… absolutely the finest rendering of an automobile I’ve ever seen, especially that gen’s type R omggg 🤩
I agree! I loved those 10th gens and owned a Type R for literally one day.
Got cold feet overnight, gave it back the next day and dealership was nice enough to give me back the title to my trade in.
Wow. The end of an era in a way. 2024, the last model year for an all gas Camry.
Really? Sounds like that could be a collectors, but they probably have a shit ton of them or there, but who knows
It won’t be lol. The production numbers are way too high for them to every appreciate really.
232 Horsepower standard meanwhile the top engine Accord (Nearly $40k for the Touring) is only 204 horsepower and probably gets similar MPG too…Toyota did good on this one
Lol horsepower DOESN’T matter. The previous Camry made 301HP and the previous Accord made 252HP.
The Accord was faster to 60. It may still be the same for this year.
Bring back the V6 😭.
Never is gong to happen. The government is up the car manufactures to get as high MPG as possible. Meanwhile China and India don’t seem to care about pollution so what is the point?
That was mainly because of the amazing 10 speed in the Accord, but also this is the base powertrain being compared to the top powertrain Accord. I’m sure a Camry GR/TRD will follow later with around 300HP and that will for sure be quicker than the top engine in the current Accord
Maybe, we don’t know if there will be a bigger engine yet.
And it seems like you’re right. The amazing 10AT was a big reason as to why it got to 60 so quickly. I know this because the 6MT 2.0T was about half a second slower putting it behind the Toyota Camry, however I don’t think it’s quite fair to compare a manual gearbox to an automatic because the Camry was only available with an automatic.
I think Toyota or aisin made the v6 Camry 8speed intentionally weak off the line to prevent transmission failure. I had a 12 Camry V6 and after I put wider tires on it, it launched really well. Better than the current TRD Camry.
This looks identical to the current car from a side profile. The front end looks better, but the rear end looks much worse.
Also really bummed this has hardly any more power than the current hybrid AND it has an eCVT instead of the 8 speed. For me at least, the TRD is the only thing that can get me interested in this over a used 2024 XSE in the next few years.
Of course it has an eCVT - it’s how the hybrid synergy drive works. As a Camry Hybrid owner it works very very well too. They’re also super reliable…they’re not like a standard CVT with a belt.
The hybrid max aren’t eCVTs, so it’s not like it’s a dumb question when the newer hybrid power trains use physical gears. It’s not an 8-speed though, it’s 6 for now
But the camry isnt getting the hybrid max…yet
