Is it just me or are the footballs changing year on year? I know they should change because nothing stays same but this one’s different. For example, I’m watching past world cup finals, the jabulani is a different kettle of fish, and the balls this days require less technique to curl and score screamers. However, the same balls tend to love the stands if hit too much.

That happens the older we get. Its amazing how much balls change over the years but still stay the same shape.

There will be a constant movement towards improving the technology, I don’t think it’s a problem that the balls are lighter than they used to be, for example.

I think the only real issue is understanding what the target is.

Are lighter and lighter balls better? Probably only to a point.
Are rounder balls better? Well we found that isn’t the case with the Jabulani.
What makes a football better is subjective, as a faster ball may be worse for keepers but better for free kicks, or whatever.
