Hello y’all. I’m not really a football fan, but I was wondering, if players work out and train so often, why are their bodies in such bad shape as they age? Like some already having arthritis and chronic back pain in their mid thirties?

They don’t train like you and me train. If I feel a slight pain anywhere, I just skip the session. I suspect most keep-fit people do the same. Professionals really pound their bodies in order to stay on top, and they are constantly managing niggling injuries or playing through pain by using painkillers. Do that enough, and you will have long term consequences.

Out of every sport in the world, football is the one that requires the most fitness. That must take it’s toll on the body.

one thing i haven’t seen yet is based on how humans consume food. Athletes eat a lot more than the average person cuz they use a lot more energy. When they retire, if they don’t keep that level of exercise up, their appetites don’t change but their calories used obviously goes down, so they lose shape really fast.
