Is it even possible to remove subjectivity from the officiating? Words like ‘negligible’, ‘deliberate’ and ‘dangerous’ currently do a lot of the heavy lifting in the laws of the game, all of which are quantifiable and open to interpretation.
How could realistic technology, either now or in the future, help the officials with the black/white yes/no in/out decisions?
Constructive discussion only please.
Fouls that didn’t directly interfere with a goal shouldn’t directly lead to a chance on goal AND should punish defensive sloppiness. For instance one on one with keeper, keeper takes out striker that’s in on goal, moving towards goal(not around the keeper) should be straight red and penalty. Handballs akin to Suarez against Ghana straight red penalty
Handball’s on crosses should be indirect free kicks and yellows for the defenders Fouls not on shots should be yellows and indirect free kicks from spot of foul
Lastly, retrospective yellow cards for simulation.
That’s how you fix this over abundance of crap pens and diving.
Yeah I am not sure why we don’t use more indirect free kicks. Unintentional handballs should be indirect free kicks. Take a look at the hand ball in the tottenham lfc UCL final. It’s a handball, but it’s not really interfering with an obvious goal. Make it an indirect free kick so that the team gets the ball back but doesn’t overly punish something a player doesn’t obviously have control over.
Sissoko’s armpit killed that match
Dude had his arm stuck straight out to the side. Gonna be a handball. It would be nice if situations like that can be indirect frees rather than a penalty. Also Spurs were never going to win that game, they needed a miracle to beat Ajax.
Yeah Liverpool was dominant we fluked our way in. I’m not under the illusion we’d have won if the penalty wasn’t given so early but it was very deflating as you can imagine
Yeah it’s an extremely unfortunate way to start a final. Nobody had fun watching that on the tv
Anything that calls for greater punishment for simulation is something that needs to be implemented. It’s been ridiculous for a while but it needs to be clamped down on.
