    Apple seems awfully quick to end-of-life their hardware these days, however. I would worry that if you bought an M1 machine, the clock would be ticking, and before you know it, you’d be seeing software whose minimum requirements were “M2 and above.”

      By my own experience, and yours, a Mac can last 10 years. But yes, sadly, money is the limiting factor. I would get the latest and greatest I could afford, but me being me, I’d prefer a mac mini, or studio, and not whatever was just released.
