2009 gold cup, the peak of Mexicos national team. Gio Dos Santos never reached his peak due to alcoholism and now we forever get to wonder what could’ve been. As youth he even out shined Messi despite going through the same program. Would he had stayed that way? Probably not. Would he had went on to be the best Mexican in history? 100%

Italy v South Korea in 2002.

I remember very vividly the slow motion replays of the Korean players celebrating after the golden goal.

    1. First time at the World Cup.

Up against Scotland. Brazil - who chose to grace us with a full strength first string team. As doing anything less would be an insult to the sport and us Kiwi’s.

I remember when I was 5 asking for Paul McGraths Autograph. He screamed “Fuck Off”

Probably the biggest reason why I cheer on whichever opponent is playing against Ireland and during 94 World cup while Ireland was going crazy for our team i was more interested in watching the other matches with Stoitchkov, Hagi, Romario, Baggio etc.

About a decade later I found out McGrath had a shit life and was suicidal and a demon for alcohol. But it was too late to save my love for Irish football. A decade of hating a team and then changing is the same as a decade of supporting a team and changing allegiance.

Still to this day i cheer for Ireland in Rugby, Boxing, golf etc but when the football team plays I take the utmost pleasure in them losing.

I know I watched a few games before this because I knew some of the players beforehand, but the 1996 Olympics is my earliest memory. Went to see the US vs Argentina in Birmingham.

I was 8 at the time.
