2010:

  • Messi 60 G/A
  • Xavi & Iniesta: World Cup Winners
  • Ballon D’or Winner: Messi

2023:

  • Haaland: 71 G/A + Treble
  • Messi: World Cup Winner
  • Ballon D’or Winner: Messi

I always insisted that Messi deserved 2010 Ballon D’or but at this point it’s a joke. Haaland deserved this one. Better numbers than Messi during the 2022/2023 season but they give it to Messi for a 7 games display when they got 5 penalties in 7 games

It wasn’t a joke when ronaldo won it only because he won the Euro Cup (and he even didn’t play shit in that tournament)?

In fact, the prize is a vote, the voters love Messi and Messi the best , but there has to be fairness, the one who deserves to win, we’re talking about a whole season, not a month

Why compare it to 2010 when the most recent example is 2018, and we know what happened then

A bit of a joke Haaland didn’t win. 55 goals and the treble.

I was fine with Messi in 2010 (he was my pick). But there wasn’t a consensus best player in the Spain squad. In 2010, Xavi and Iniesta were about par and my choice for their best player was David Villa

Its a popularity contest voted on by massively biased idiots.

I’ve always believed that they exclude English clubs from this. My prediction is that Jude Bellingham will be the next English player to win it simply because he plays for Madrid.

2010 was right to be awarded to Messi. 2023 should be Haaland, but I get giving it Messi because he individually dragged Argentina to the World Cup, whereas Xavi and Iniesta were in a great team.

I heard someone say recently that without Messi Argentina win nothing, without Haaland City could still win the treble, which was an interesting way to look at it.

Who cares tbh, it’s just a popularity contests and the one that gets more votes wins.

This 8th award won’t make Messi more goat than he already is lmao
