Hello all, happy spooky season! I’ve recently bought a house and I am wanting to fully network my house. I have ethernet cable, rj45 heads, rack mount, wire crimper, wire stripper and a network tester. As far as rack I’m getting a 120V/15A surge protector, patch panel, 10 Gbps SFP+ Direct Attach Cable / 0.5 m, Dream Machine Professional, Access Point U6 Long-Range, and I have a Catalyst 2960 switch to with it. Any pointers or help is much appreciated, I’m new to networking and trying to learn as I go. Thank you!
Edit: items I forgot to add
Sounds like you’ve got some cool equipment picked out but what is your actual goal? How I would use and set up equipment to run a home network that tech illiterate family will connect to is very different from how I would run a lab environment is different again to how I’d host servers I run things I care about on. Different design goals create different considerations to factor in.
