Doesn’t have to be a well or latrine, could be earthen works, running water pipes, or the corpse hole.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•Why does every commercial depiction of honey involve one of this things? Literally nobody has ever seen one of these in real life
21·41 分钟前I know what you mean but also there is a viseral vibe around microwaving water in particular that feels very caveman coded in the weirdest way.

2·7 小时前Please don’t, unless it’s a toggle in the menu like with the Renpy engine. I don’t want to watch a long cutscene that I know by heart just because I’m playing on a new thing without my local saves.

2·7 小时前What Sekiro type mechanics? It basically has nothing outside of the timed combat mechanics which are far from unique amongst various games, hell I’m pretty sure Jedi Academy which has combat mechanics closer to Daggerfall or Mount and Blade had a timed party mechanic though I could never figure it out.
Do yourself a favor and look at the tags for a game before playing it. Looking at the steam page it has both story rich and JRPG as tags, this is basically tag speech for long fucking cutscenes.

10·17 小时前Could be worse, could be a marathon run of the Metal Gear series with a ban on skipping cutscenes. Also the fuck did you expect from an aggressively French JRPG style game, FFS JRPGs are defined by their cutscenes.
Personally I prefer Christ on a cock. Which because I have had my mind poisoned by the French invokes the image of Jesus riding a giant rooster.
As I understand it it was less so a matter of direct spelling changes and was moreso a matter of “correcting” pronunciation of school children. While it’s generally failed every generation or two it seems the English face some version, the most notable being the shifter of how to pronounce solder so as to pronounce the L. Though that one in particular may just be people not knowing how to say it as well.
Also as an aside Webster simply documented the most common spellings of words at the time, while he definitely had an impact on a lot of the spelling most of it was pretty well spread by the point he published his dictionary. Printing presses charged by the letter so superfluous letters generally got abandoned namely the U in a lot of words since it generally doesn’t effect inflection in American English, I’ve also seen variants wherein silent Ls and Ks were dropped though most of those ones didn’t stick probably because nife just kinda looks wrong.

politics @lemmy.world•Trump signs executive order blocking states from enforcing their own regulations around AI | CNN Business
35·2 天前Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t this effectively toothless? Like executive orders only effect things directly under federal and more specifically executive purview meaning even a city government could pass a regulation on AI in their area and it’d have more legal weight than an executive order. Or are they abusing unrelated powers to declare that no one can regulate AI?
Like I’m pretty sure the supremacy clause doesn’t apply to executive orders.
If memory serves they’ve had at least one government backed effort to relatinize certain words in their dialect. I do respect any country that does that on an intentional and purposeful level, it’s why I don’t respect the French and why I have gripes with the Icelandic.
The worst part about this is that if Karl Marx was alive today he would 100 percent be posting shit like this online. You cannot convince me that Karl Marx wasn’t the 1800s equivalent of that dude giving indepth historical economic overviews to his team in CSGO.
Plenty of archaic uses are still common depending on dialect. One of the more annoying aspects of Cambridge and OED is the assignment of archaic to older or lesser used forms that may still be common in parlance bet fell out of favor in most other ways.
Also I refuse to listen to what the English have to say on the English because they keep intentionally fucking with their dialect.
Hell you could even argue it’s still more or less the same as the Phoenician version since the bulkier Greek alpha in that format is generally reserved for stone and type face. The Phoenician one is basically how I do my print A just rotated.

At least TV ads could be entertaining back in the day, but modern internet ads are both boring and obnoxious. One minute you’re watching Invader Zim the next you’re watching Billy advertise a burger press, nostalgia.

politics @lemmy.world•Republican declares second "civil war" has started in US
8·2 天前I feel like the whiskey rebellion is a bit of an unfair one to include. Mostly because rebelling over taxes was rather common historically, and now that I’m considering its a tad weird we haven’t had more tax rebellions here in the US.
I always liked the idea the it was actually just blood/death magic and everyone was just too ideologically blinded to see that sacrificial magic was used for good. It makes sense that Voldemort would be blindsided that one of Dumbledores followers used a bit of dark magic, imagine fighting someone who refused to use chemical weapons only for them to decide to use a nuclear landmine on you in particular.
Also if the company refuses and hires scabs you can always put the money towards hiring union enforcers. Mind you we aren’t quite there again but I don’t we’re too far off either, showing up to a scabs home at 2AM to have a nice talk or ambushing the boss on his way home. The glory days may be long gone but I hope to see new glory forged.

1·3 天前Forgot about that bit, but yeah makes sense then that we haven’t heard shit since they are at best still polishing things up. If there’s one thing I can give Quantic Dream it’s that their games are generally well polished baring a few bugs (JASON!) or scattershot writing (beyond two souls).

Fuck now I want a Wasteland 2/3 style star wars game.
