Jury nullification is a byproduct of a couple other rules.

• jury verdicts can’t be appealed based on outcomes
• double jeopardy isn’t allowed
• jurors can’t be held responsible for verdicts

This means that if a jury returns not guilty, it’s over, which is what allows jury nullification. It’s not brought up because it’s technically a subversion of the process. It also has historically been problematic, and got people guilty of lynching off. The preferred alternative is an affirmative defense.

Juries are given very detailed instructions that are agreed upon by both sides and the judge. How these are worded is generally as critical as any testimony during the trial. These instructions generally a sort of flowchart of questions that determines the verdict. Jury nullification requires explicitly ignoring those instructions.

It makes sense when you realize people are dumb. They can charge 50% more for all product that is almost identical with half a cent of protein powder mixed in per bag.

Not really. The first avengers movie helps establish a few characters and plot points, but you don’t necessarily need to see the movie. Winter soldier does have some key elements that the series doesn’t really cover well if you haven’t seen it by the time you get to where it released in the series. There’s obviously build up to the other movies as well, but nothing as impactful from what I remember.

I’d expect it to be ok, but a second game coming out before the first ever really got fully fixed.

WB hasn’t used the nemesis system since 2017, and likely won’t use it again at this point. By the time the patent expires it might be a lost system.

A reactor isn’t a catalytic converter. They might get some coolant that’s mildly radioactive. The core would probably kill them if they ever managed to open it. There’s not a button to just open it, it’s only designed to be opened with heavy equipment in drydock.

Dirty bombs are more of a boogie man than a real thing. High grade materials are dangerous to be around without shielding and can fairly easily be tracked. It’s just as likely to kill the makers before they can get a bomb together than be used. Lower grade materials require more to be dangerous, which means less spread with the same explosive, and the bomb has to be pretty big. It’s easier to get a backpack full of explosives into somewhere than a van full of radioactive material, and the backpack will have a bigger radius.

It wasn’t nullification. It was good to lawyering to have the instructions be specific about requiring the act to be forceable which requires a risk of harm. The argument was entirely a wrapped sandwich isn’t a threat to an armored officer.

Alternately let them compete under the Russian flag. These kids didn’t invade Ukraine, they can’t stop the war. Show them the rest of the world doesn’t hate all of Russia. Let them experience life outside the bubble and it might actually help stop the war, if more people can see the propaganda for what it is. Ideally they also lose badly in the competition, but that can’t really be assured.

Just isolating all things Russia and demanding they leave Ukraine isn’t really working.

I think it’s content dependent. I lean towards not having them, but I can think of a couple episodes of the magicians where I would have appreciated the warning instead of the after the fact help line screen. It’s also true that adding a warning lessens the impact of the scene being warned about which I think is also counterproductive.

I think we need more granular ratings than we currently have. Kickass and I Spit on Your Grave having the same R rating is essentially meaningless.

Solo is solidly the worst thing Disney has done to star wars. Rogue one is middle of the pack.

Most writers being male doesn’t mean that women have to be terrible characters. Shit writers are just shit, and Disney hasn’t bothered with finding quality writers in a very long time.

Rogue one is one of the most boring movies ever made that ends with one of the greatest action sequences ever made.

The resistance was not on their back foot, they were fucking dead. It was 30 some people and the Falcon by the end of TLJ.

Kylo makes a terrible villain for the big bad. He already lost to Rey in the first movie even if weakened. He failed to turn Rey with his big join me speech in TLJ, and he gets embarrassed by ghost Luke. There’s nothing scary about someone who’s been throwing temper tantrums for basically two entire movies. Secondly, there was now way he wasn’t going to end up being good, Disney wasn’t going to greenlight a conclusion with him being evil.

Rey made peace with her past and admitted it didn’t matter, there’s nothing to explore there without the retcon Rise did. She also had multiple defining moments of choosing the light, basing a movie on yet another time is stupid.

Other force sensitive people is a meaningless thing to base the conclusion of a trilogy on. Elmer Sleazebaggano son of Elan appearing and being the big good or bad out of nowhere is just as bad as Palpatine. You could do something with an established character becoming force sensitive, but they butchered that anyway.

Leia even if Fisher hadn’t passed couldn’t be the main plot. Sure she could be a source of help or counsel for Rey, but that’s about it. If Leia became the hero of the resistance like she was for the rebellion by using the force and welding a lightsaber it just begs the question why she didn’t bother at any point in the last 20 years before everyone was dead. It also doesn’t work with Disney’s need to sunset the established character is and bring out the new heroes of the galaxy.

It’s not about comparing the feelings of empire or the beat for beat replay. It’s about comparing the narrative and where it was at that point in the story. Empire left room for growth, there were new questions to answer, TLJ didn’t.

• The rebels were scattered after Hoth, but most the ships were able to escape. This lets the following movie have the option of gathering on or off screen. TLJ left almost none alive, the next movie needs to invent new people.
• The main characters were thoroughly beaten by the bad guy. This provides something for them to overcome in the next movie. TLJ ended with Rey succeeding, the first order is now 0-2 at being the big bad guy.
• Luke had to process his father being Vader, Han needed rescue, and Leia wanted to rescue him. Rey, Poe, and Finn were all happily on the Falcon.
• you had the seeds of romance in both. The problem with Reylo was Ren couldn’t be the big bad and the love interest or the movie just ends with him telling the first order to stop once he acknowledged his love. You also had Rose and Finn, but that was one sided as he was obsessed with Rey the whole movie.

The dialog has ranged from acceptable to dog shit. The plot and story beats are pretty solid. The new movies contradict themselves within the same scene sometimes.

Michigan really needs to clean house in the athletic department. The rumors of this were happening before the season, he was clearly a transitional coach for the cheating investigation, and yet he appears to have been safe until this scandal became impossible to bury. It’s an incredible fumble to have a slam dunk for cause firing and not use it until the timing destroys the program for the next year.

My state gives unmarried fathers essential zero rights as a parent of the child. They are expected to provide financial support though.

Trying to fix men’s problems doesn’t mean women don’t have problems or the shouldn’t be fixed. Oppression Olympics aren’t productive for anyone.
