It’s not like the news reporter has changed its fate with the terms they chose to discuss this purchase in.

“Dress for the 90s” as in temperature. 90F I guess. Because dressing for 90C would be like… Spacesuits.

Good times, I remember that and the face of Gaben.
Gaben’s glorious brow
Gaben’s wise eyes
Gaben’s sculpted nose
Gaben’s loving smile
Gaben’s modest chin
Something like that.
Cool! Looks like it is called Franken Stonehenge (in English) which is why I had trouble finding it. Thanks for the link.
🤦♂️ ah jeez. I do on my PC install of Greyjay, but looks like I forgot to enable it on my phone.
P. S. Thankyou so much its working now
I’ve been browsing r/thedeprogram on Reddit for a bit today to get a feel for the attitudes. Seems complex with some rational and some extremist views. I see a lot of people speaking very anti-Iran leadership, eg “I was, as I am now for the overthrow of the brutal theocratic Iranian government through self-determination.” (Post from 2 years back, lots of support with 66 upvotes and discussion about iran vs US imperialism etc), but also some absolutely cooked attitudes pro-authoritarianism. Eg “The Great Firewall is so genius, any argument against it is complete garbage.” On a post discussing China supposedly wiping out CIA ops in the country, post from a few days ago.
This is just their reddit, not the creators direct views, but it gives a great feel for the attitudes they foster. I don’t have the patience or desire to check through a bunch of their podcasts.
I’ll be taking anything I see from them with a very cautious view though, thanks to your comments.
P. S. I couldn’t tell which Iranian leader it was from a black & white meme, thought it was a younger image of the current leader (Khamenei), not Khomeini. I see it now 👍
You’d think that, wouldn’t you - but it doesn’t succeed for me, this is what happens when I tried. I’ll keep trying alternative methods until i find one that works.
Grayjay is awesome. I haven’t figured out an easy way to send videos from Lemmy to open in Grayjay on my phone (or open directly to the app) but for now I just search the title to relocate and watch there.
Edit: I forgot to enable the Peertube plugin in Greyjay, its working now 🤦♂️
I know exactly the community you mean but I haven’t interacted with it much beyond occasional visits and upvotes. It’s sad to hear that perspective of Lemmy, because it does get rose-tinted as a bit of a leftist utopia and this is the first time I’ve seen the ugliness. I really appreciate it being shared.
I’m not clear - is this guilt by association, he contributes to that podcast and others on the podcast have played apologist for Iran, or he specifically praises Iran?
Further, do they speak positively of the current regime (eg Khamenei, as pictured) or Iran’s plight in general?
Because it makes a big difference, to me at least.
Guy on the bottom left is the dude who runs Second Thought channel on YouTube and unless I’m mistaken I don’t believe he’s ever simped for Iran. Smells like some bull in here.
As an aside, the peertube instance this is hosted on ran the vid really well. I’m impressed. Hope this trend continues, would love to wave bye to YouTube.
There never have been before 🤷♂️
Cool. Where is it?
I searched ‘German Stonehenge’ but could only find this, which doesn’t look like the same place?
Kids in my daughters class did a project about ‘an issue that is important to you’. They could pick anything.
Most of the kids talked about interesting and positive fields like environmental protection/space exploitation or some sport they love to participate in. Three of the boys chose to talk about ‘men’s rights’, and according to the teacher who I spoke to about it afterwards they were echoing Andrew Tate shit.
They were 10 years old at the time.
None of their parents are divorced either, so theres no ‘woe story’ from dad in the background to put any framing around this.
However, their parents are all conservative and all let their kids access Youtube with no oversight. So social media and lax/indifferent parenting are very much grooming the next generation into hateful misogynists like Tate.
I haven’t seen any radical female content creators personally, and there certainly doesn’t seem to be a large industry of them forming. If there is they’re very well hidden and poorly advertised.
But if that happens I’d absolutely be for talking people away from listening to them.
And all the news articles saying “only the US has bombs capable of penetrating deep enough to hit those facilities, and only the US has bombers designed to carry those (very heavy) bombs”.
Yep complete shock to all.
Its pickled, not raw. Scandinavians have been pickling fish for a very long time and it’s worked out OK so far.
