  • It is better to test drive one, and others have mentioned there is nothing wrong about not liking the experience if that is the case. If money is a thing then I would suggest looking elsewhere as they can get pricey to own and maintain ownership wise as they get older.

Find out what you like and get that. Test driving is cheaper and easier IMHO.

Here is what I would suggest to think about 1.) What is your budget; 2.) what are you looking for in a car? (weekend car, sportiness, comfort and space, amentities; 3.) are you getting it cause you really want to or because you think you want to

    Go from there. Good luck!

  • I sold my e46 M3 at 120k miles to get my current car and while I do love what I have currently and have modded it to my liking I always miss the e46 m3. I plan on adding one to my stable again sometime soon. If you can afford it mentally and otherwise I would say keep it (as finding a nice m3 with a history you can verify that is not sold by “I know what I have type folks” is getting harder and harder. If it is your only car and you want to upgrade for creature comforts and updated ergonomics then sure I guess. I owned my e46 m3 for 7 years and loved every moment (and that is with the vanos grenading and me having to replace the engine). Nothing quite drives or feels like an e46 m3.
