World News@lemmy.world•Jeffrey Epstein Was Vladimir Putin's Wealth Manager, FBI Source Claimed in Newly Released Epstein FilesEnglish
6·14 days agoSure. You’re right. But there’s ways to look at it that makes it misleading anyway. For example if you read the title “Putin’s daughter was killed” what will you take from that? That he has multiple daughters or just one?
Plus, your example works because we live in a world where many people have multiple kids. But if you lived in a world where everyone you knew only had one kid, what would you infer from that? Because as far as I know, most people have zero wealth managers and some have one. It’s the first time I’m hearing of someone having multiple.
I’m not gonna pretend that your explanation doesn’t make sense. And the title is technically correct. But only technically. The fact that op has 34 upvotes shows that many people understood the same thing from the title and that makes it misleading, imo.
Yeah, I can see what you mean. That was quite bleak. Damn… But… thank you for sharing <3 that was a cool read. I’d consider posting these somewhere if I were you.
Also, do these dreams come randomly? Or are they inspired by stuff that you had thought about recently? Cause I get fucked up dreams sometimes, but it’s usually when I spend too much time immersed into something.
I understand <3 I appreciate that you’re even considering it.
Not even strangers on the internet? I’d love to read some!

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•REANIMAL releases DRMFree on GoG [Steam: Steam Deck Playable, Mostly Negative reviews] [80/100 on Metacritic]English
16·22 days agoI’m really disappointed. I preordered REANIMAL to play it with a friend, but PC players don’t get a Friend Pass — while PS5 and Switch 2 do. My friend can’t afford the game right now, so because of this decision we literally can’t enjoy it together. This isn’t a technical issue. You had time to implement it and already did so on other platforms. Locking PC players out just feels greedy and unfair, especially for a co-op game. I supported the game early and now feel punished for it. This kind of move kills trust and seriously ruins the experience.
Many negative reviews seem to be about the friend pass not being available

Games@lemmy.world•Gothic 1 Remake | Release Date Trailer (June 5th)English
2·23 days agoPlayed the intro/demo thing they had up a while ago. The world and stuff seemed promising. The combat was slightly better but still quite similar to the original game. Which imo is not that good of a thing. I’m still gonna play it, cause I love the game, but still… was hoping for a bigger improvement in what I consider to be the side of the game that most needed jt.
I know you’re exaggerating for the joke, but since Italians usually have starters + first dish (usually pasta or soup) + second dish (meat or fish) on their menus, you’d have at least 6 dishes on the menu(I’ve never seen a restaurant that doesn’t have at least 2 options for each course outside of those that don’t do a la carte) + dessert.
Also, a bit more on topic, personally I’d much rather order lasagna than most other things on the menu as it’s usually a good dish + to do it properly at home it takes a decent amount of time. So if I’m gonna pay 20€ or whatever for a dish, I’d much rather have lasagna than pasta with pesto or a steak or whatever.

Technology@lemmy.world•Lawyers set to argue that Instagram and YouTube intentionally addicted and harmed teen in landmark social media trialEnglish
7·25 days agoHow so? These companies are actively trying to make their platforms addictive. And it’s pretty well established at this point that social media is harmful to mental health, is it not? It’s a society and parenting issue as well, obviously, but that doesn’t mean these companies shouldn’t be regulated.
The Judas case was complete bullshit, however. The message was “do it”, wasn’t it? So even if it had been a purposeful subliminal message, it’s like saying Nike’s slogan is harmful. It’s silly.

World News@lemmy.world•The Chinese government bans all new investment in IsraelEnglish
2·28 days agoNah, mostly she just complains about pretty normal stuff that’s unrelated to that. She’ll be back next week, this time she stayed a bit longer than usual, might’ve felt less like a tourist this time so might have actual complaints. But I doubt it. She’s what the Russians would call a vatnik, I think… despite living outside Russia for over 30 years now.

World News@lemmy.world•The Chinese government bans all new investment in IsraelEnglish
3·28 days agoI have a russian coworker that goes back every year to visit her family. She too insists that russia is awesome and it’s even better since the war started. Do I believe her over all the other Russians/Ukrainians/Moldavians I’ve met? Hell no. Propaganda is a helluva drug. I’m sure all those places aren’t as bad as American media makes them out to be, don’t get me wrong, but they’re not as peachy as their side says either.

Technology@lemmy.world•France to replace US's Teams and Zoom for 'sovereign control'English
12·1 month agoMicrosoft has an app called ‘microsoft visio’. This is a different visio. That’s what they’re asking. But the visio stands for “visioconférence” which is their word for videoconference. Many people in France just say “I have a visio” when they have to use one of these apps, regardless of which one they use. So op is asking about a potential trademark infringement but I really don’t think it’s gonna be an issue because it’s such a common word.

Metal@lemmy.world•death/black/sludge metal and grindcore bands that use saxophone (or other wind instruments)?English
4·2 months agoSear bliss is a pretty awesome black metal band that incorporates trumpets.
Now that I think about it I think avant garde bands might be worth a shot as well. Try Sigh(Japan), igorrr, thy catafalque or imperial triumphant. (Wildly different from album to album so try multiple ones even if one doesn’t sound like what you’re looking for)

No, but I do it because I find it fun. I enjoy the sound it makes.
