It depends on if the failures were related. The only possible connection that I could think of would be if they disconnected the airbag wire when they were changing the ignition cylinder somehow. I would count this as unlikely, so be prepared for a bill.
You’re into litigation territory if the shop that you took it to has been shotgunning parts at the problem hoping that it gets fixed. You may end up having to take it to the dealership for proper diagnosis and suing the independent shop for the difference.

I would replace the gasket. There is not a lot of margin for error with head gasket alignment.
If it was leaking long enough for you to nearly be out of transmission fluid, then yes.

I would use a pin punch to rock it side to side and it should eventually loosen enough that a magnet retriever should be able to pick it out.
