Well, I suppose they have to permit third party payment processors on their network or they’d face regulatory trouble. Here in EUrope, card interchange fees are regulated.
But, in case you haven’t heard about this, Visa has a subsidiary called “Cybersource” which offers payment processing for all mayor credit cards. So it’s not like Visa wasn’t trying to get into payment processing as well.

Actually, there are territories which are inside the single market but outside the customs union. Take Heligoland, for instance. If you ship several bottles of Cassis de Dijon from France to Heligoland, you have to pay duty on the French liquor but local authorities can’t confiscate the bottle over the low alcohol content.

Yes - but if leading AfD figures were stripped of their right to vote, then such ruling would hit that person _regardless_ of which party he or she¹ is in. And it would also prevent those people from running as independent candidates. So I think going after individuals vs. going after parties is not an either-or. It would make sense to do both.

Not correct. Eurostar may be state-owned, but they’re still a Limited company, so they can file for bankruptcy.
Actually, the company which operates the Eurotunnel went bankrupt at least 3 times IIRC.
