3·1 month agoVery telling when you see an adult and the last books they read were all from high school.

Oregon@sh.itjust.works•Oregon business closures outnumber openings — and the gap is growingEnglish
2·1 month agoThis holds up with what I’ve seen in Portland. Lots of businesses going out - Dollar Tree closed lots of locations. They said it was because the rent was too high.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•Did you attend your high school reunion? Why or Why not?
1·1 month agoI was invited to my 10 year. The person running it had encouraged my exgf to break up with me years ago. It wasn’t being held at the school, and by all accounts only a few people were going. I think it was going to be at a Denny’s essentially. It sounded miserable so I skipped it. No regrets.

Privacy@lemmy.ml•Mullvad is apparently the main financier of a Swedish far-right party
711·2 months agoThis seems pretty sensationalized. Wikipedia does not classify them as a far right party. “Some key issues for the Örebro Party locally include strong secularism, a 30-hour workweek with retained pay, lowered wages for politicians, expanded social housing, abolishing preschool-fees, making public transport free of charge,[4] ending taxpayer funding of what it sees as wasteful sculptures, monuments and art and introducing free dental care.”
Yeah those Nazis are always for sure advocating for social housing and a 30 hour work week. /s
Strange title. Big tech lost huge on this. They want to advertise to your kids. These bans make sense to protect the vulnerable.

4·4 months agoI was super into the Star wars unlimited tcg, but I’ve really fallen off. Just didn’t find the play lines interesting. Now I’m getting back into Netrunner which you can play for free online.

The impact of social media on young minds has been shown to be quite pernicious. We need to limit screen time for young adults so we don’t end up with another generation of tablet kids who are socially stunted and encounter difficulties interacting with coworkers when they enter the job market.
