They pitch it as a space-saving design for EVs but the space saving actually just comes from running a small motor on each wheel. The main advantage seems to be more efficient torque transfer at different angles which seems relatively unimportant tbh

Bigger screens sell and at some point there is no way to integrate a screen that big into the dash plus there are often two screen size options on different trims.
