I used to think buying from a rental company was ok unless it was a sports car but its really not with any vehicle. They are self insured and a lot of things are taking care of in house and not reported.

I might be the minority and agree with you. I’m a big fan of the CX5 but also wanted the 17" wheels for the combination of comfort and performance. I think the vehicle looked great as is and rather have the 17"'s.

I was a huge used car fan for years but in the current market they were so close to new prices I went new and yes they depreciate immediately but you know you’re the one taking care of it. These new engines especially GDI are extremely sensitive and need regular oil changes than the older vehicles. Google that on your own to confirm. I know people that leased vehicles and either did one or no oil changes the whole 36 months. That will definitely catch up to you especially on turbos. Many times the dealership won’t have the records to show you previous maintenance. People who say otherwise don’t know engines. Watch the " Car Care Nut" and " Scotty Kilmer " on YouTube amongst other professionals. I will still buy used in the future when prices normalize but I’m very cautious when doing so. I’m no “dolt” if that’s who the previous commentator was referring too.
