  • Your car will be absolutely fine. It is not a true comparison, but consider it an in-flight refill.

Be super careful regarding fire hazard like: cell phones, and anything.
In any case the gas station will be pissed because you don’t respect their procedure and safety guidelines.

I have done it some 30 years ago with a car that had been submerged / flooded but could start 1 time after . It was a benz, the people at the station were not superhappy, but understood the situation.

I don’t know where you are, but currency for your budget points to Europe.
I would look for an extended Renault kangoo. Diesel ( dci) engine, with 90 or 110 hp.
They exist as 7 seats or 5 with true comfort features or plain company vehicles/ utility, boxed in cabin and flat floor.

As a work van : best in class. Can’t go wrong with so so so many in the streets.
As a family car: best in class for practicality all around, but ZERO sexyness, or attractivity.

    Your need / choice.

  • Get a 1998 taurus. The old “round one”, I think it is edge / bio design.
They drive well, are safe, confortable and roomy.

I suspect the maintenance can be had for cheap and stay like this if the car was properly maintained.

There was a “luxury” version, buick le sabre, with leather , chrome trims nice wheels etc…

No so glamour, but top for a roadtrip or daily life imo.
