I think phone for phone, the iPhone doesn’t have anything that stands out from the competition really. What makes it different is iOS and the ecosystem that locks everything together and works better than the Android/Windows counterpart.
Bought an S9 on Black Friday after some time wearing Casios now I’m back. I also bought it for sleep tracking and regular use - I rarely do workouts, so I know that takes up a lot of battery life.
So far, it’s lasted 2 days on one charge. I normally don’t let it die completely, since I like to have enough juice to wear it at night. It’s got raise to wake on and I’ve tried to turn off somethings that will drain the battery - if anyone has any tips on what drains, please help me here, sometimes I really don’t know what to turn off, lol.
And it charges quite quick I think, about less than an hour it’s good to go. Don’t be fooled by the ‘faster charge’ on the 8 and 9 models. It’s literally 15’ faster on a charge than the regular one, it’s really a joke, if you ask me. A ‘faster charge’ would be like 30 minutes vs an hour imo, but it is what it is.
Overall it’s an all day watch really. Apple Pay is absolutely perfect and blazing fast, watch faces are great, all apps I need work perfectly well, the larger screen is great and the S9 is a good watch if you wanna track your sleep, since it’s not uncomfortable to wear at night.
Absolutely. It’s kinda curious to me the level of attention Apple gives to that app really.
I love those!! They look pristine!! Thanks man. Really appreciate it.
I like those. Thanks for sharing. Though they go really well with the Ultra, but I have a Series 9. Don’t know if they would pair as well.
Great question. I’m about to remove my SIM card from my phone cause I just don’t use that app lol.
You know, I’m just back to the Apple Watch so I’ve had it for, like, 4 days I believe. I love the AOD feature because I get really distracted every time I have to type something on my Mac’s keyboard the watch will light up - it annoys me. So AOD, time is always there when I want it and I love the Contour AOD face, but not its watch face. Wish I could have that AOD but with a different face.
And since the last charge I’ve decided to test out the battery with and without AOD to see which could be more ‘valuable’ in terms of battery life vs convenience. I’m in the ‘AOD cycle’ as of right now, lol.
The first charge I tested AOD off, raise to wake off too. That got me a day and a half and I put it on the charger at around 20%.
So far with AOD on - love it to just take a glance and see the time, date and the weather temperature complication. So far I’m gonna hit a whole day in about two hours now. I’m at 51%, so it should go for a day and a half till I have to charge it again. I’m thinking at 15% or so by the end of this period, let’s see how it actually does, but apparently the drain will not be so significant as I thought.
The only thing I’d have to test out is the AOD on the watch face I actually like ‘Modular Duo’ or ‘Infograph’.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 Just like that! Frustrating…
That’s what I did. We ran a few tests but I haven’t had the time to stop and unpair the watch and reset the whole thing up. What is weird is that last night it started unlocking my iPhone, which is a good sign. So let’s see how today goes lol.
I don’t know if the Ultra is that ‘no brainer’, quite honestly. It all comes down to what you want and how large your wrist is. I mean, I get the larger battery - that really is a deal breaker to a lot of people, but the regular series 9 looks so dope. I know it’s the same thing it’s been since the first one, but depending on the size of your wrist - and if you like that classic shape, that could be the one to go for.
It’s interesting bc if it were easy, others would’ve done it by now and as good. But OEMs focused on ‘the phone’, the actual physical thing and the software on ‘that’ device. When you look at that alone, there’re other better phones imo.
And that’s where Apple was visionary really. They locked people into the ecosystem that is ‘that good’! It just is, as much as I believe there’re better phones out there - I’ve had them before, it’s a fact that Apple’s ecosystem does things better than others, reason why Samsung ‘got that’ and is trying to do something similar, but it’s that Samsung ‘hit or miss’ thing.
