Yes this was the point of the meme. I feel like dying in an airplane, but it is very unlikely that anything fatal will happen. I also feel like dying while driving through suburban traffic, and there the odds are much higher something could take me out.
I love biking! Hence the low desire to die. I feel so much better all day after biking.
I am also biking in Kansas City Missouri though where drivers will directly threaten to kill me.
This stemmed from me joking with a friend that it is unfortunate that flying is so safe because I always want to die when I’m on plane.

6·1 month agoA little detail I liked was Tarima specifying something about destroying her father’s auditory cortex. It answered the question of why a telepathic species would need sign language. In humans, even when we imagine voices or use an internal voice it goes through the auditory. So, it makes sense that a telepathic species might use it’s auditory context to “hear” thoughts.

6·1 month agoAre these people even watching the show? (probably deliberately disingenuous)
Ake sits up and also wears shoes when things are serious. It a consistent visual cue. I’d be as mad as they were if cadets were dying and she were laying back in the chair just shrugging it off, but that’s not at all what is happening. Part of her character is that she is serious only to the extent the situation requires, and I think that casual attitude makes sense for someone who has been around for hundred’s of years.

8·2 months agoI don’t know what the conditions will be for my blue city in a red state come November. My plan is to vote early and spend election day seeking out ICE at any polling locations to film and heckle them. If they want to arrest me, my vote is already in and it will take them out of play for their role threatening voters. MN is showing us how we massively outnumber them and can stymie their tactics.

Oh, but you forgot that all the problems are because the first woman ate the wrong fruit. The bible says that is why pregnancy hurts. The rest of those problems? Well creation scientists have determined that sin caused those too even though the bible didn’t specify it. They know this because they need it to be the case to keep believing in their mythology.

I agree that we can support everyone on earth if we change our social, economic, and political systems.
I also think it is good that voluntary population decline is already happening and seems likely to continue in many industrialized nations.
I was worried that this could make bitcoin seem useful but other people in here are explaining why bitcoin would still be an awful solution for this.

That’s totally fair. It isn’t cheap but the price is amazing compared to the Shaper Origin which is $2,900.
I also like the maslow which is more accurate over long distances so it would be better for furniture.

That’s why it’s in the negative positive quadrant. Low desire to die, high risk of dying (at least in my city)
