I don’t think it’s far fetched to think that the job attracts a specific personality type. Like the police.

The day Arteta instructs his team to walk off the pitch in protest against bad refereeing should be the day we commission a statue of him outside the Emirates. I feel it’s inevitable at this point. The incompetence in refereeing and the arrogance they are displaying are just staggering.
They are fucking thugs. Literally the central thought in whatever they do or say is that their authority should not be undermined. They are jealous bridesmaids. In the midst of the action but not really why people are watching. So they want to exert as much control and influence over something people enjoy so that they aren’t forgotten.
Those Europa League wins are a long time ago now. 2016 was the last win. In between, he has had a disastrous spell at PSG and a pretty mediocre time at Arsenal. So obviously he has his doubters. He is killing it at Villa though.
Arsenal v Spurs is the only local rivalry where both teams have been mostly evenly matched for the past decade or so. The other big local rivalries in England are actually pretty one-sided now. Liverpool v Everton is always a win for Liverpool. Man Utd v Man City is skewed to Man City. West Ham have been too inconsistent for the past decade to be considered a major rival of any of the London teams. Chelsea v Spurs and Chelsea v Arsenal are big games but from what I’ve seen, people aren’t really bothered about Chelsea because they are mostly seen as an artificially propped up team (rightly or wrongly).
I think the biggest games of the calendar are still Man Utd v Liverpool and Arsenal v Man Utd. Those games still have a lot of needle in them irrespective of form and league position.
Player welfare is so far down at the bottom of the list of priorities. It’s sad. Players should speak up. No matter how well they are paid, making them put their bodies through this schedule is just inhumane. Look at the domestic calendar for December. It’s bordering on abusive.
With Bud Light? Isn’t that beer the closest thing to piss they allow you to sell in a bottle?
I refuse to believe that Brazil of all teams has a shortage of attacking options. Honestly, fuck them if they guilt GJ into playing.
Fucking tired of international football. Completely subsidized by club football and produces garbage level entertainment. Just fucking bin it.
No one is talking about how much Declan Rice cost. That itself should tell you how well he is playing.
Rashford sending off perfectly reasonable according to me. Can clearly see him throw an elbow at the defender. ETH is a disgrace for complaining about it. He needs to be fined and given a touchline ban.
We as fans expect players to play very good if the fee was high, but it doesn’t work like that.
Your comment makes no sense. That is literally how it works. The only reason to pay more for a player as compared to another is because you think that player will play better than the other option. Otherwise there is literally no reason to pay more if everyone is as good or bad as the other regardless of price tag.
Grealish isn’t really a good example because he is still not doing anything exceptional to justify that price tag.
I really don’t know how much time he needs. Maybe he becomes a quality player for us eventually. But there are plenty of players who have moved to a new team and hit the ground running. And for £65m, you certainly hope someone to hit the ground running.
It is pretty concerning that none of the 2nd string players in our squad are even slightly threatening the spots of Arteta’s first choice. We got rid of a lot of deadwood just a few months ago and it was a painful exercise.
Also, Havertz - hindsight is 20-20 but it’s difficult to say right now that this transfer has worked.
This was unironically our “weakness” during the late 2000s. The number of times pundits would say all it takes is to stop Arsenal playing football and any team can beat them. It was some through the looking glass shit.
Ødegaard and Saka have been an amazing partnership,
This is just a categorical fact. Anyone who says otherwise doesn’t watch The Arsenal. They thrive off each other. Both were not good yesterday but the revisionism as if Odegaard is the problem is just nonsense.
I didn’t think much of it during the game, but the more I see the Robert Sanchez collision with GJ, the angrier it makes me. I don’t even want a penalty. Just send him off. That shit is dangerous. Could have been a serious head/spinal injury for GJ. Reminds me of that Bellerin and Marcos Alonso collision a few years ago.
They used to go to Switzerland in the winter? That’s some eye of the tiger shit.
