I think he blew his chance to go to Real Madrid, they’re the only ones that could have realistically sign him, other clubs are either too poor, too weak or are not interested in spending that amount of money.

The obvious answers were mentioned, a less obvious one maybe Taarabt.
I hate how people tend to forget about him.
I don’t think he remembers either.
Shut down Old Trafford while you’re at it.
First name that came to my mind.
What do you expect him to do, he is keeping Barcelona competitive with the money he’s allowed to spend, while Barcelona gave him scraps Real Madrid have been spending big money. I don’t follow Barcelona that deeply but La Masia graduates were ignored for a while under the old regime and that can have a long term effect on the quality of graduates, still he integrated some young players into the squad and he looks like he’s doing great balancing incoming players with academy grads (at least to an outsider like me). Cruyffian football needs very specific profiles, without a proper backing from the board it is very difficult.
Asking more of him is asking too much in my opinion.
I think they were the most convincing, they played beautiful football and played like they were favorites, people thought they could potentially be contenders for years to come.
They had a 30 years drought even before that. I am not saying they will be surpassed but the argument that they’re consistent is not that valid since most of their titles have been won in short periods of complete dominance (1950s and 2010s).
