Xtool D7 or D8, car care nut on YT has a review of both. I have the D7 and it’s been super solid.
If everything else is checking out you certainly could. The solenoids do just go bad sometimes.
Beware, those bolts holding the solenoid in are not made to be reused, install new ones that will come with the solenoid. Also they only get torqued to something like 6 or 8 pound feet. Super easy to break those things
Could be the oil pressure isn’t enough to close the vvt solenoid meaning a leak in the solenoid gaskets, low oil, a bad solenoid, a few different things. Needs some inspection to be sure
I don’t remember that exact code if it tells you it’s the front or rear vcm solenoid, the front one (bank 2 I believe) is super easy, the rear obviously not so much. Good luck!
