Qatar did achieve absolutely remarkable success for a nation their size in the AFC competitions though. They just never put it together for a World Cup appearance.

Everyone knows that number 1 is true. The players have had years to form a cohesive tactical system, and the clubs aren’t limited to a specific geographical region from which they can recruit from.

1. Club football is the problem with fixture congestion far more than national team football is.

2. The new UCL format isn’t terrible, but it would be far better if we went back to simply having the champion from each nation and literally no one else.

I care far more about national teams than I could ever care about a club.

Nah, international football is better anyway, if players need to play fewer games, we can kill the bloat in club football. Maybe do a few fewer tours of the US and East Asia every year where the stars are required to play.
