Oops - I forgot the “update” part in my previous post of “buy, download, and play”.
“This will take 7-8 minutes… Hang tight and you’ll be gaming in no time.”
Gads… that was an eternity… 😁

Did u just purchase it? A few on this sub have more to cry about - they ordered at launch and have yet to receive the treasure. Hopefully those numbers are continuing to drop…
AS u/F34RA11 pointed out, there’s a “run” on dead pixels with a few received Decks, mostly with the LE models. Some buttons have been called out across the models, too.
No issues so far with mine.
Really - the only question you need to ask yourself is how much stock storage you need (which is DIY upgradeable, as you probably know) and whether you want the “bling” of the most expensive option. Otherwise, buy, download, and play.
I did the same with mine and my ex-LCD Deck about to be sold. While they sound different, they feel very similar (press force, tactile feedback point, etc.), almost to the point where I think I can’t tell a difference.
BOE panel (expected). NO dead pixels (shocking).
Won the lottery!
Follow-up on this post: received the deck safe and sound at 10:45am PST today - outer box virtually problem free. UPS delivery person left the box gently resting behind against our porch knee wall, out of sight from the street. Appears Valve isn’t requiring signature upon delivery.
Overall timeline for reference purposes: [in San Diego, CA] ordered on the 17th (I errored out then OOS on launch day), was packaged that afternoon, didn’t get shipment notification until Thanksgiving (the 23rd). Shipped via UPS from Ontario, CA - arrived in SD early this morning (24th) - delivered just now.
San Diego, CA.
Tried ordering at launch, got the errors, then the OOS after getting thru (20-30mins). Shortly afterwards saw the scalps on eBay for $1000+, and said “eff it” to pass on this gen (as I wanted the LE). Went home that evening w/“WTF” in my head.
Friday the 17th was a new day: that evening, was able to order smoothly an LE from Valve. SMH, still saw $1000 transactions on eBay (some shipping to US addresses).
Just got notification of shipment this morning (Thanksgiving) - delivery estimate tomorrow (Friday the 24th) before 9pm PST.
…and there’s still transactions being completed on eBay for ~$900 (US included) while the “Buy Now” button on Steam still shining brightly @$679. Maybe peeps can’t wait? SMH…
…got the common “error” message while ordering the LE at launch, only to have it go OOS. I then heard about LE decks being sold in eBay for the $1000s, said “WTF”, and decided against even buying the non-LE until my use case (out of town travel) comes up again in several months after the dust settles.
Fast forward to last night - the “Buy Now” button on the LE is active and I smoothly purchase one…
Just checked eBay and these are selling (i.e., sold listings) for $1000? “WTF?..” The “Buy Now” button for the LE deck is still active at the time of this typing…
That happened to me earlier today too, but I’m sure with all the factors involved, I was dealing with a different set of circumstances.
Re-downloading Shadows of Mordor, I left the Deck and came back an hour or so later, expecting “all ready”. It was still downloading - 1+ days left.
Turning off WiFi and re-turning it back on got it back to normal speed again.
