The line drawing process for the offside doesn’t sit 100% right with me. Still very subject to human error and you can see how they’re trying to rush what should be a very diligent process. Still think semi automated tech is the way to go.

It’s not Havertz’s job really to be slicing open defenses with through balls, so that part is pointless.
However it is 100% his job to convert chances and the team is set up so he can get plenty of them. That is where ultimately he has failed.
If he was playing exactly the same but with 5-6 goals, you’d barely hear a peep from anyone.
Re Havertz. It was always going to take time for him to find his feet again after his Chelsea. 65m will always be seen as an overspend, but otherwise, it’s not a huge deal. He is a good profile to have in the squad if we don’t bring in a new 9.
Here’s where I have a big problem. Does the club have to shift out a bigger and proper Arsenal talent in Smith Rowe to make this Havertz project work? If so, that doesn’t sit right with me at all.
Lucky lucky boys…
Cue the Glazers out and all the players need to go comments!
Your last point might just be the answer. Players aren’t clicking or are messing about too much in the final third, wasting our territorial dominance.
At Chelsea this weekend this was clear to see. Off the ball we were excellent and generally pinned Chelsea back to their own half/third. But then we’d give the ball away for fun once we got there and failed to get shots off in good situations.
Maybe has something to do with our starting front 3 not getting a ton of time together yet this season, but that definitely needs to be fixed up.
Liverpool did get a DM, it just didn’t end up being a high-profile one, but they went all out for Caicedo and should have got him. With Rice they would’ve known he was Arsenal bound, and not many other options out there worth splurging on.
Havertz was very much an “on paper” or “in theory” signing. He has a lot of desirable features, and on form (which we haven’t really seen since the Bundesliga) he would be the perfect left 8 in our system to complete the midfield/attack.
Of course, actually watching him with your eyes, he hasn’t been that player in over 3 years. So it was always going to be a risk, hence why Bayern or Madrid were interested but only for about half-price or on a loan.
