  • It’s a numbers and statistics game. I dunno what the actual number of EV to ICE is, but it’s probably 1000:1 or more, but it’s the only time I’ve seen the minority be more expensive.

When I was in the military a shipmate was 21 and had a brand new Corvette. His insurance was cheaper than the kid the same age with a brand new Camaro, and a lot cheaper than the kid with a brand new Mustang. Why? Because there’s hardly any 21 yo driving a new Vette, let alone wrecking them like they are the Camaro and Mustang. So statistically he’s less of a risk.

My buddy’s full coverage Murcielago insurance is cheaper than my insurance for a fucking Macan. Low numbers, even if repairs are more expensive (his windshield replacement was $12k lmao) there’s just not enough data out there.

My own personal example is how my insurance for an MV Agusta Brutale is 1/8th what it is for my BMW S1000R despite having the same HP and being the same genre of motorcycle. All the squids are wrecking and getting tickets on S1000Rs, so it’s more expensive despite being nearly 1/2 the cost. There’s hardly anybody wrecking MVs so there’s no data…therefore it’s cheaper.

  • Probably this. Also, “911 coupe” pretty much umbrellas every model of 911 unless it’s a targa or a cab as every model is a “coupe”.

Additionally, those Bugattis and Ferraris don’t have the multiple models to help pad those numbers. A Chiron is pretty much it, meanwhile the 911 has the ST, GT3, GT2, R, anniversary editions, RS iterations, R, GTS, S, Turbo, Turbo S, etc…that helps quite a bit from a mathematical pov.

  • I can get the oil changed for a 911 for $65 too if I use shit oil and shit filter at any jiffy lube. Same goes for tires. You can’t compare shit oil and tires to fully synthetic oil and z rated tires….

I dunno where you’re getting your rotors and pads for, but I just got all 4 rotors, and pads for $800 for my 911 2 years ago. Not some crap either, I got Pagid ceramic pads and Zimmerman rotors. I just bought rear pads 2 days ago cause they needed to be changed and the pads ($65) with sensors ($13) including 2 hours of labor to rebleed to entire brake system with fluid was just over $300. Brake sensors are $13 for a pair. Porsche brand ones are $26…so I dunno where you’re getting $150 for sensors and $1500 for brakes…. It took 2 years for the rear pads to wear out and I daily and track this car 3 times a year.

Those prices are slightly higher than that of a Civic using comparable oil, pads, and tires…but it’s not outrageously more.
