There are only two reasons I would consider the Outback over the CX-50, headroom and off road ability. The Outback (especially the Wilderness) has more off-road focused features. I haven’t seen a head to head comparison, but Subaru has much more experience here.
Otherwise, the interior quality on the CX-50 is in another class. The engine is pretty well proven, and the transmission (though a little dated) is still preferable over the CVT.
