That’s one way of looking at it. I definitely disagree though. I absolutely agree time is quick and feels like it has only excelerated, and i havent just gone out without plans on a random night in forever, but I absolutely still love having plans to do things with friends like once a month if not every other month. Maybe it’s because i have 2 kids, but I really need that relaxing time away from all that every now and then and hanging out with some friends is always a good time still and keeps my head straight. It’s also nice to have something to look forward to.

News@lemmy.world•Christa Pike Regains Consciousness After Failed Execution in Tennessee
141·3 days agoThis is so weird… I wonder if she woke up wondering if this is real since I feel like it would make no sense to her. Also that part about her being a survivor, come on really? I feel bad for how her childhood was, and that the other 2 got less of a sentance than her, but do I feel sorry for her or think of her as a victim? Nah not really. From what I read she will most likely get electicution, but there will be years of more fighting now and my guess is she just gets life since I think she will die naturally in jail before that next attempt ever happens.
If anything I feel bad for the family of the actual victim who sees all this and also see people showing Pike more sympathy over it. Meanwhile I remember hearing of 2 cases in the last year that were executions for innocent people that were not allowed to be reversed and ended up dying, those are the ones I really feel sorry for.

59·4 days agoI watched a video on him. Great and very unique story. Sure he stole, but he was harmless and just wanted to live alone. Crazy how he survived some of those winters.

Majority of the people who inherit them will most likely sell because they won’t know what to do with it. It will most likely be sold to the person quickest to make an offer and that will most likely be a company thats trying to buy up property. We won’t see a drop because they won’t let it happen. We need stricter rules about who is allowed to purchase property to drive down cost.

2·5 days agoIts a payment plan since i cant afford the winter months peak when I have to use electric heating. Its also an older house and needs some real improvements to insulation and new windows. I also wish i could upgrade the electric heating since i do believe even that have better options as well. All things I could never get to sadly, but now that were selling I will be really happy not having to think about all of that ever again. Ive been keeping track and in summer it’s actually $300. Winter is brutal sadly.

Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•You are undecided on buying a house. But this convinces you to buy it
1·6 days agoYes and yes, but no I never have. Generally I would like to think majority of people use agents that others have used and recommend or they are friends with. As for a lawyer the few times I needed one was either family or research online.
Idk anyone who has seen a billboard and said oh yeah thats my best option, im gonna call them. Outside of movies.
Do you not have agents over there? We can also do this all ourselves, but the paperwork and rules normally make it something you don’t want to do yourself, same with lawyers.

41·6 days agoI moved into an all electric house over 10 years ago and it was awful back then with it being avg $500 a month. This past year ive been paying $1100 a month. I do not have a huge place and outside of a few pcs and tvs i really dont use much so it pisses me off. To broke to change or put solar up. We just decided to move so ill be thrilled when this shitshow is not my problem anymore.
Pretty sure Mac wouldn’t be asking that, if you know what I mean.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What is something that you want but can't justify to do / buy right now ?
6·7 days agoI put off buy new hard drives for my NAS. I have an 8 bay and slowly filled it over the years with 6tb drives since they were about $200 at that time. Now that I ran out of that space I started replacing the 6tb one by one with 12tb which at the time was around $200 as well. Ive needed a new HD for years now but couldnt really afford it, but now I really need a new one and I REALLY can’t afford it… this hobby is essentially dead at these prices. Ill continue to purge data and hope in a few years some miracle happens and prices drop again. I also hope these current drives hold out without issues…
You know it’s bad when I immediately thought of the bad thing, but had to think about what it was meant to say. Either that or my mind is way to far into the gutter.
Stop making me even more jealous lol. The funny thing to me is I don’t even want an ounce anymore! I like concentrates way more and even if I didnt I still smoke flower way less to the point that it would last me way to long that I wouldnt even want it anymore and would rather get something fresh and new to try. At that price i would be giving out a bunch to friends or making crazy large joints just because.
So how much is an eighth? Like $10 bucks? I would prob just buy a few different ones of those and call it a day.
Yeah growing up it was always $20 1g, $50 3.5g, and $90 7g. I used to get awful weed for around $200 an ounce and it was like $300-$400 for good stuff. So with those prices it kind of set the original pricing for the state, but it has come down significantly and having the ability to choose stuff on sale is a gamechanger. We all agree here that it will continue to drop as it continues to become available and more stores open up which is incredible. I am slightly jealous of the places that get it even cheaper.
When our state legalized it the only way some agreed to let it pass was to agree to some rules. That meant no personal home growing at all sadly… if I didnt have kids I would take the risk, but its absolutely not worth it. I just want to try it once for fun. They have said from the beginning that it will be legal in the future, but recently it got taken off the table again. We believe they dont want to allow it so more people have no choice but to buy it so the state rakes in more income. Hopefully one day it changes. The funny thing is when it was passed they didnt realize there was a part in there to legalize mushrooms lol. Everyone was so angry about it and i think they had to immediatly pass a new bill correcting it which was done in a week or so. Just goes to show if they want something done they absolutely can do their jobs. Sorry for the extra info haha.
It varries state by state. West coast is actually really cheap, but east coast where I am is much higher. I also think the longer its been available helps pricing as well since we have been dropping little by little each year and I dont even think its that bad anymore. I basically just buy the sale items now. Normally our joints are single but 1g for anywhere from $8 to $30. Ounces are probably double what your prices are if you get a good sale or buy shake otherwise the standard is about $90 for a quarter (used to be $100) but can go as low as $50-$60 on sale. I generally buy concentrate and i can get them as low as $25-$30 for 1g which used to average $50 just a few years ago.
I don’t buy much, the 1g concentrate is small, cheap, very strong, and lasts me a month or more and im fine with that. Normally everyone i see who is buying stuff in store buys way more though.
For the non-obvious reasons that this works is because weed is kind of expensive so the majority of people going are probably dropping around $100 or more, so you know they have the extra money to throw down on some cookies. Adding on another $10 bucks on a want when buying leisure activity substances makes the decision pretty easy in that moment to trap them.

World News@lemmy.world•"Every sneezing Russian will be taxed": Russia hits citizens and businesses with record 3.7 trillion rubles tax bill as war costs soarEnglish
1·8 days agoI wonder how much Putin will throw into this. You would think the richest man in the world could help pay for his own war.
I do this as well. Also i normally just go to the location then hit the bar and type in appdata at the end to proceed. Same with programdata.

42·9 days agoJust because I feel this way doesnt mean I don’t care for them. I give them the best I can with what I got. It’s not their fault I did what I did. And of course its not all bad, its just a lot all the time especially since one has autism.

Absolutely, not because I wanted to though. I kind of had to due to responsibilities. As they got older there is some leeway now so its a bit easier to get out, but I don’t push my luck either with the wife haha. I definitely have the urge to go out more, a lot of my friends are either still single or married and never want kids so they all get together way more. For me it probably is my friends that keep me coming back, we have all been friends since high school basically so were all comfortable and know each other well so its always a fun time. Beats 24/7 of kids all the time which is the alternative. Also since were kinda poor getting a babysitter is out of the question so even spending some time with the wife is limited sadly.
We setup a funny group just to make sure we get together every few months which helps and we each take turns picking a good pizza place and just get pizza. I used to love concerts in my 20’s so much i was going like once a week at my peak. Now i barely go once a year but I finally get to go to one in a few weeks. Finally we got a yearly weekend tradition where we rent a place and just hang out for 2 days and cant wait for that at the beginning of december. Thats about it for my year though, not to crazy.
