A modem router combo is generally not recommended here since most people in this sub are privacy and performance oriented. Some even take it further by having the principle of one device only has one job, which means this single box should’ve been separated into four devices - a modem, a wired router, a switch, and a wireless access point.
Does it mean everyone should follow the same? No, definitely not. Some people value convenience above everything and that’s okay. It’s just this device in specific is quite old, you might want to find one with WiFi6 (AX) instead.
Xiaomi 4A Gigabit. It’s so cheap that $50 might buys you two so that you can cover your entire house. Can be flashed with OpenWRT so the fact it’s a Xiaomi is no longer a concern either.
What speed are you paying for? This is typical if you have low speed and without a proper qos setup. One device like your phone streaming/downloading could suck up all of the available bandwith, rendering the internet unusable for other devices.
6E is just WiFi6 with additional 6GHz band, while WiFi7 brings new features such as MLO. With current prices it just doesn’t make sense to get a 6E router now.
