Teams who aren’t from England, Germany, Italy, or Spain never even compete (idk why Ligue 1 is so bad). Like no team from Oslo, or Copenhagen, or Helsinki or Athens can even compete.

I guess that’s a preference. For me, I see zero appeal in any European league but the UCL since the same couple teams always win. But, that’s football you know. Everyone can have an opinion.
Exactly! This. People who say City are cheats should see that City only “cheated” cuz this is a system where no one who doesn’t “cheat” gets ahead. In a fair league, everyone can spend as much as they want, or have an equal hard cap.
That’s fair haha, American sports do a great job at having parity and thus making the leagues feel meaningfully competitive. But this can be achieved way more easily since MLS clubs don’t have the history, which seems to be cherished a lot in Europe. MLS not having pro/rel also helps a lot in making parity. I think the MLS model is honestly a lot better as it ensures a competitive league, way better than European leagues like Ligue 1 where PSG blow everyone out of the water and get everyone’s best players (mbappe from Monaco)
That doesn’t change the parity lack tho
The EPL has seen only 2 different teams other than the big 6 qualify for the UCL in more than a decade. Its parity is also very little, frankly.
I think a salary cap introduced over time, across Europe. This could help make it so, teams doing well like Aston Villa could eventually start challenging for league rather than just trying to get Europa League, cuz they could keep their best players rather than needing to sell cuz a big six team made an offer to their best player and now they can’t keep their best player hostage at risk of demonizing the club.
It’s completely anti competitive. There is very little reason for anyone to become a Bundesliga fan for reasons apart from fan culture (cuz of 50+1 and cheap tickets). Competition is non existent, it is Bayern’s training ground. Only the UCL still has competition since the teams which farm their own leagues (Big 6, Barca and Madrid, Bayern, PSG) are all equal with each other as being financial heavyweights and can thus fight fairly.
I mean, what’s GOOD about the same 6 teams dominating the PL, or Bayern farming the BL, or Barca and Madrid monopolizing La Liga? Mate, im just here to talk about football
I guess. But, wouldn’t want the situation to changed such that all teams in Serie A split revenue equally between all 20 teams? Cuz that way, the teams at the bottom may challenge the top of the table and we’d see new teams win (not just Roma, Juve, Inter, AC, Napoli, Atalanta, etc)
Same here mate. Only the UCL feels Important since it is the battle Of all the super teams (City, Bayern, Madrid, Barca, etc) and it can’t be farmed.
For me, it is the same thing. I think it is pointless to follow the domestic leagues when the same few teams win every year. The only competition I really follow is the UCL, since different teams can win (not like Bayern or PSG farming). It also only lasts for 2 months during the crunch part (April to June with the QF onwards) so it saves time.
True, but I feel like there is some sense of delusion here, with all due respect. I mean, Google and Apple started out in garages too, and these companies aren’t seen as San Francisco based working class places of pride. Just because Liverpool FC was started by local people wanting to play football, doesn’t mean it wasn’t bought out by American billionaires and employ players who play there mainly for the money and success (because if only history was the factor, then world class players would join Football Club of Edinburgh or something). I mean, I still feel like the lack of parity is a problem. Maybe it can not be eliminated, but there should be a solution of some magnitude. But I don’t know a lot honestly, so I’m probably missing something.
I think, the Bundesliga really, the clubs aren’t really meant to be world class football clubs, but rather more or less places for the community to bond over. The emphasis isn’t on winning, it’s just having a good Sunday with the mates, no? :-)
Watching a team which the fans own, I can see the wholesomeness in that. But, the football club is still pretty much capped for ambition, due to Bayern and how the Bundesliga is set up. Meaning, it can never really ever be a world beater, just a selling club at best.
