Democracy in america was tenuous at best. We did use it for some good over the years but it hasn’t been the bulwark we need to protect our rights like we had been sold. Democracy works when people believe in democracy. We stopped believing.

What about where to draw the line? Everyday the money we use is funneled to some corporation that has a hand in the human suffering that happens around the globe. When is thier evil transfered to me because I contributed to their successs.

I have a hard time reconciling killing is justifiable. I can agree if your life is in immediate danger but then you have the cops who use it as a license to kill. I lean on the side that some things just can’t be justified and we have to mitigate/manage these instances.

The commentary is more about the idea of america. Usually death isn’t perceived as a bill getting signed or a person getting elected, its the consequences of of those things. So maybe you joined the military and witnessed war crimes. For that person, someone you assume has some sort of patriotism, they might switch from believing in their country to not believing in it.

For me, being very young when the towers fell, I started to understand how hopeless and fucked we are as a people.
