Open and inspect the airbox (where the air filter is housed) for rodent nests
Generally inspect around the engine bay for rodent nests that could cause a fire
Charge the battery for a day or two with a trickle charger (this step is not required but never hurts)
Check the tire pressure and adjust to the recommended pressures. The pressure settings are listed on the driver’s door opening (where the door seats to when it is closed)
Once started:
Listen for any unusual sounds
Check under the hood and to make sure everything looks good ( no leaks, burning smells ext)
Look under the car to make sure there are no leaks ( coolant or oil)
First drive:
Take a short drive at lower speeds, don’t hop right on an expressway. This let’s the engine, tires and transmission warm up.
Take it to a gas station and fill it up with fresh gas… no need to worry about draining the tank.
