went and watched it, xhaka was fouled, ref gave a stupid penalty. but it’s ok, your universe is different.
The moment Xhaka threw that armband on the ground, he earned himself the deed to a mansion in my head.
And as far as I’m concerned, he will keep that deed until the end of freakin’ time.
This is actually a fair take tbh, like i don’t hate xhaka and Havertz/Vieira thus far have done insufficiently to replace his last season’s output but i can see how some fans would never forgive a player who openly disrespected the club in the manner that he did. Granted there are mitigating factors but there are somethings you can’t come back from, for some fans and they aren’t being out of order for feeling as such.
Nah that’s just immensely thin skinned on our part, especially when the venn diagram of people who find it unforgivable and those who go on about ‘strong mentality’ is basically a circle.
Vieira (the original) disrespected the club way more than Xhaka and with absolutely nothing form the fans as mitigating cricumstances.
You give it, you’ve got to be able to take it, especially when it’s a tiny, tiny fraction of the abuse he got both before and after
Vieira probably got way more leeway because we managed to win multiple things with him/because of him tbf. I never really like how he flirted with Madrid almost every window, i remember some sun interview where he blasted Wenger and the club but because social media wasn’t a thing yet, if you didn’t know, you probably never did.
Xhaka didn’t resonate because he was in poor form himself and so were the rest of the team, straws were shorter i guess. As with outbursts, it’s never entirely one sided but you have to say it’s very rare for a player to do what Xhaka did live and still find himself in the team.
