New coach Jess Thorup comes in and has literally the perfect, record breaking debut for us:

    • first time we scored 5 goals in an away game in the Bundesliga

    • The first time we won from trailing 0:2 in the Bundesliga

    • our first away win since October 2022

    • our first Bundesliga win by more than one goal since April 2022

And all that while looking badass in every camera shot

It is gonna be difficult not to get hyped after this performance but I know that the season will be long and challenging, Thorup needs to prove that he is eager to adapt and gets along with all of our players. The good thing for him is that we have some of the hardest matches out of the way already and the next ones are winnable against Wolfsburg, Köln and Hoffenheim (I’ll be in the stadium for that one)

We had a really annoying loss to Chorley last night, we were by far the better team but our finishing was abysmal. Luke James must be hanging onto his spot in the team by a thread, don’t think I’ve seen an attacker have so many chances and not convert a single one. Their keeper played a bit of a blinder, but still, we should’ve won with the amount of chances we had. And don’t get me started on our defensive mistakes.

Our away form is getting really worrying. While we’re unbeaten at home with 6 wins and 1 draw, we’ve only won once away and it’s becoming a worrying trend that we can’t win outside of South Shields. Not sure what the solution is, it’s an issue we’ve had for years across 3 managers, but it’ll end up costing us a league title once again.

I’m surprised that it took nine losses (in a row) until the media tries to write unrest and turmoil into our team. Would have expected it much sooner.

Anyway, we narrowly lost from one mistake yesterday, while Napoli didn’t make any. That’s what happens in the CL against champion teams, I think that’s to be expected. It was a good reaction to the game against Stuttgart, if we continue that performance in the league, I’m not worried. Doekhis injury is a slight concern, hopefully it’s nothing longterm.

Can’t be bothered with this Greek Superleague malarkey. Need AEK to be tested by the best* weekly! Though I do have this inescapable bad feeling about the Marseille match.

*teams with over 200 million in Transfermarkt value.

Maximilian Beier extended his Hoffenheim contract for two more years till 2027. I’m guessing a hefty release clause was written into his new contract. If he continues like this, I doubt we’ll be able to keep him in the summer.

Those who follow the bundesliga more closely, is Stuttgart’s form for real or is this a crazy purple patch? Or was last year the anomaly?

Crazy looking at a nearly-relegated team from last season in 2nd.

It’s both. With that squad, they realistically belong in the upper midfield. Last year, they had a bad start, and the inexperience of their young squad led to them snowballing into the relegation zone from there, only to be saved by a managerial change and Guirassy returning from injury in the end.

This season they had a good start and snowballed in the other direction, where suddenly everything works.

Won the derby on saturday with an attendance of over 9k. Shame it officially was an away game; that will triple the attendance of Cannstatt II for the season.

Next away game is Freiberg, who are charging 17€ for a standing ticket in their sunday league ground, absolute rip-off.
