As someone who’s not a tactician at football, would someone explain the different play styles between the two coaches?

Preface, I’m not completely clueless and enjoy watching tactical breakdowns on YouTube. I’ve never played football but I know positions and basic formations. I’ve also read two biographies on Pep and Ancelloti’s autobiography.

I would just really appreciate it if someone would do a comparison on their different philosophies and tactics. And also explain what makes Naglesmann the wunkerkid of the football coaches.

Thanks in advance!

I am also not an expert but I would say it’s more or less the same style of football just slightly more conservative with how much risk is taken. As far as I can tell he kept the same system he inherited. It has not changed in any major way I could see since he took over. Also game management is a bit different as under JN I felt that Bayern did not play down the game as much. The only game that I can remember where Bayern played “well” the whole game was Bochum but and I was in the stadium for that so maybe I did not get as good of a look as with replays on tv. Let me know if you agree or disagree.

Thanks for the reply! On the surface our play style seems changed. With Naglesmann our attack seemed more vertical at times. Our attack often played through the center rather than from the wings. Less crosses into the box. Overall we looked faster on the attack as well.

Also our defense has become pretty terrible and I’m not sure who’s responsible. Imo we look way more vulnerable under Tuchel.

I’m really curious as to what people mean when they say “Tuchel Ball.”
