The players drafted from 2020 to 2022 are still young and have plenty of time to turn things around if their career hasn’t started off well. So I’m asking you to go out a limb: which player drafted in that span are you willing to 100% take it to the bank say is a bust? You have to be willing to eat your words if you’re wrong and that player turns it around. I’m not including 2023 because it seems wrong to call a player a bust before they’ve played a single regular season game.
I guess the most obvious answer to this James Wiseman. He already busted for the Warriors, he was terrible in a few injury plagued seasons for them and they didn’t even get a lot by trading him away. Especially considering they could have had LaMelo Ball. He could turn it around in Detroit, but it’s not been a good start for him.
Which player are you 100% certain is a bust already? And are you willing to eat crow if you’re wrong?
Johnny Davis was one of the worst rookies i’ve ever watched, but he was still a rookie so i’m not 100% confident in calling him a bust yet
primos been out bc of his issues. clippers got a steal.
I’m solely looking at lottery picks unless someone jumps out as a special exception:
2020:
James Wiseman (Pick 2), he may turn it around, but I’m not expecting it.
Isaac Okoro (Pick 5), I have no clue what Cavs fans think of him, but the fact I don’t hear him get mentioned may be a sign.
Killian Hayes (Pick 7), He just can’t hit shots.
Kira Lewis Jr. (Pick 13), He just is not good.
wait who the fuck is johnny davis lmao
Here he is with that patented thousand yard Washington Wizards stare
Okoro will probably end up playing ten years just on his defensive ability, but yeah as a top-5 pick he’s a disappointment.
He actually scores with decent efficiency overall, but he has basically no playmaking ability and an iffy outside shot.
Bouknight was the 11th pick???!! Damn I thought he was an undrafted project player Hornets were giving a try 😅
Okoro’s defense is great, but unless he can get his three-point shot working he won’t be in Cleveland much longer
OKC traded 3 firsts for Dieng too. Looking like a massive whiff.
Isn’t Zaire expected to play a lot this year? I think this is his make or break season
If the preseason is anything to go by, and we know that’s not a given by any stretch, dude is a different guy this year, he might break out. I’ve still got high hopes he pans out as a positive on both ends of the floor.
Yeah I’d agree with most of these except Zaire. I think he’s definitely got the potential to have a good season this year with both Adams and Clarke out.
He had a really bad year last year, huge sophomore slump and even looked bad in the G. Alot of Grizz fans were attributing that to him growing over the offseason of his rookie year, because he originally came in looking pretty promising and even playing quality playoff minutes. Eventually he fell out of the rotation with guys like Roddy taking his minutes, but based on his preseason play he looks like he might have put it back together (emphasis on the might, as we all know how much substance preseason can hold).
I have never gotten off the Ziaire believer train, I still have hope he can be valuable to us and be that long term 3 we need, but that could be my copium based on how nothing else has worked out for us the last 12 months
Personally think Pat Williams is gonna remain looking like a bust on this Bulls team
Don’t think he qualifies as a bust tbh. Even if he’s not as good as they hoped picking him so high, he’s still already a decent role player— he’s not gonna be out of the league in three years like some of these other guys
killian hayes is a generational bum do not listen to pistons fans.
Pistons fans really do act like he’s some crazy potential player that just has yet to be unlocked
You just have the wrong perspective. Scoring isn’t everything. Killian Hayes a pass first and defense first benchwarmer.
League worst 45 ts% and some people still defend him 💀
Issac Okoro is a bust for being a top-5 draft pick. Solid defense, but that’s about it.
Patrick Williams at 4 as well, right before Okoro. Serviceable defender and sharpshooter but no growth past that.
Dude is better than Pat Williams who was drafted ahead of them
Disagree
There are quite a few players, including Bouknight and Jones, Keon Johnson, Leandro Bolmaro, Isaiah Todd. Nobody in 2022 because one year is not enough to judge.
Primo obviously is a bust for the Spurs. No way around that.
Jalen Smith was a horrendous pick for where he was drafted with what was behind him and with the fact Ayton was already a Sun, but isn’t a bust.
Jalen Smith is the worst crime as of yet attributable to James Jones’ experience-oriented draft policy. JJ only wants to bring in guys who are ready to contribute on day 1, typically older, polished prospects with defined skills and roles.
But passing up on Vassell and Haliburton for Jalen Smith bordered on negligence. Looks even worse now then it did then, and it looked plenty bad then.
Jones sort of lucked out with Cam Johnson in 2019, amid a pretty poor talent pool at the back end of the lottery.
As soon as the Suns Durant-era is over and we start drafting again, JJ is cooked.
Jalen Suggs
Orlando fans, how’s Jalen Suggs looking? I haven’t heard too much about him, so I’m guessing he might be being towards bust status
Best perimeter defender in the team, weak as a shooter so far, but we still have hopes he can hit league average from the arc.
Even when staying slightly below league average on offense, his defense makes a difference. This season he will probably start and we will see if the hours come true. If not, still solid bench layer.
Probably one of the deciding factor where the magic end this season
More disappointing than an actual bust. Still has a good chance of having a good long career just because of his defense.
He’s excellent on defense but can’t do much offensively at all. As a starter, he’s our 5th option. Hoping his shooting improves. Our sub is delusionally optimistic about him lol.

I was wondering where all time bust Jarrett Culver was. 2019 draft. Keep on.
