Here’s what I wrote about Jaden McDaniels in Minnesota. Barring a trade, Minnesota is entering second apron territory next season.
With Gobert’s trade value being at an all-time low and the Timberwolves looking to head straight into the overly restrictive *second* tax apron after nearly two decades of avoiding the tax, it’s looking more and more like a KAT trade is on the horizon.
When Jaden McDaniels is costing you $60M a year to put up 9ppg something’s gotta give
Or the team just pays the tax for 1 year, restructures Goberts contract then can duck the tax in consecutive years. New ownership is not afraid to pay for quality players. They are wanting a new arena and will assuredly ask for public money. They are not about to cheap out now.
Yep. Sounds great.
I don’t know why this is being downvoted. It’s all contingent upon if the team is doing well this year. If they do well then yes Minnesota, like almost every NBA team trying to compete, will pay a tax.
Also they can let Slomo and Moore Jr go, resign Conley for less, keep everyone and still be under the 2nd apron in 24-25. But even if not, paying the tax for 1-2 years isn’t the end of the world. The big consequences are after 3 years (pick goes to 30) and Rudy’s contract ends in 26.
they’re at essentially 190m going into this upcoming off season, with Kyle not signed
i get Rudy’s value isn’t great, but i’m not trading KAT unless it’s bringing back a second scorer
because ANT can be a 1, KAT is a 2, and Jaden can be a third guy on a great team
ANT/Rudy/Jaden + role players just isn’t good enough
The obvious move would be to trade both KAT and Gobert and try and rebuild around Ant/Jaden. They’re only 22 years old after all. But the Wolves have been so success-starved that going back into being a lottery team is a hard sell
Trading Gobert for his actual trade value after trading what they did to get him would be too embarrassing for them to consider. They might legit get back for both KAT and Gobert the same amount they gave up for just Gobert
Embarrassing? You just lost your franchise player, bud.
Fr. On top of all the picks, it’s wild they added Patrick Beverly (serviceable), Vando (above avg. defender), and Kessler who went on to lead the league in blocks.
Nobody besides Kessler is a foundational piece. Vando, Beasley and DLo couldn’t even stay on the floor in the playoffs for the Lakers.
Beasley yes. DLo and Vando played vs Warriors and Grizzles so I wouldn’t say they couldn’t stay on the floor in the playoffs. It depends on the matchup.
Kessler is so crazy since argument can be made he alone is better than Gobert
Kessler is absolutely not better than gobert, this sub is unbelievable.
How can such a terrible team be anywhere near the cap? They don’t even have anything resembling a superstar. KAT is their best asset and even he is suspect.
Terrible team lol. Jesus Christ go outside
Ok, brave little no-flair.
