I’m interested in what kind of people hang around in here since the community is so small and so new.
How do you spend your time in game? Are you a raidlogger with a static, or tend to chat in your FC? Grinding mounts, getting gil, buying a house? Any Eureka/Bozja enjoyers?
When did you start playing? What’s your favorite fight on any difficulty, or other content?
How many hours and characters do you have, are you on the free trial, leveling or looking for help and advice in game, or do you have your mentor crown already?
What region do you play on? What do you think of addons?
What (reddit or other) community did you come from / still use?
How much I play tends to vary from patch to patch. I have rather limited free time these days and so it can be difficult.
Primarily I play for the story. I absolutely love the story and I truly believe Shadowbringers and Endwalker had an impact on me as a person and gave me new perspectives on life. Just a beautifully told story, great characters, awesome themes, cannot say enough good about it.
However I’d hardly call myself a casual player. I enjoy raiding but haven’t managed to finish a full tier on patch yet, primarily due to time. My schedule isn’t very conducive to joining a static and I simply don’t have the time to prog via PF. I hope that one day I will finally finish a tier though lol. This past tier I got through P7S but it took me so long to finally find a PF that could clear 7 that 8 just wasn’t in the cards for me.
Aside from raiding I generally just derp around and relax. Decorating my house, doing my island sanctuary, mount hunting, crafting, nothing is really off limits. Most of the time I just pick some goal (like all tanks to 90) and go for it until I lose interest in the game and then I wait for the next patch.
If I do join back up I’ll probably resume my leveling of PRanged via finishing all side quests in the game. That was really fun for me : ) but atm I’ve been obsessed with learning chess so we’ll see when I pick my favorite game back up. If I just won my housing auction it’ll be more likely that I return lol. Part of why I lost interest is that during the break before 6.4 I went 60 days without logging in, lost my house, and proceeded to have like no inventory space. To my own surprise not having a house and being so inventory limited really hurt my own motivation to play.
I main Black Mage and I’d like to think I’m pretty decent at it, often parsing in the upper 80’s last tier. Been maining BLM since FFXI and it’s just comfy for me. FF is the only series that I think gets the idea of black mage correct.
Came to Lemmy from reddit.
Time to check the auction!
Casual samurai/ninja player here. Still going through the main story after a long break from the game - currently at stormblood. I try to do a daily duty rulette when I remember. Still figuring things out again after the break. Just got used to a controller after only having used keyboard/mouse before

I’ve been playing on and off very casually since 2.0. These days I pretty much just log on after new patch releases to do the content. Between them, I ocassionally hop on to mess with glamours, run dailies, and chat with the FC mates who aren’t in Discord.
My wife and I actually met through this game back in 2016, so it’s got a special place in my heart.
Just under 3k hours… MSQ done, 90% of side quests too, all Tribals expect EW, Land/Hand classes at 90 along with 4 combat classes.
Currently working on leveling the rest to 90 (all are between 50-80) and trying to solo all three Deep Dungeons to 50 (PoTD done and I’m on 21-30 of HoH). I was heavy into Eureka for a while but only got to the third island and needed a break. I’ve tried Bozja a few times but it hasn’t “clicked” yet.
I’m on Hyperion, just grinding out XP or chasing achievements most days.
Am hoping this place gets a bit busier. I do a bit of everything in the game, but all rather casually. Have been doing so since stormblood. Originally in elemental, now in materia.
Idk about favourite fights, there were so many that are favourites for different reasons. Be it the mechanics, the story, the music.
Too many characters, two with all jobs at 90 and mentor crowns.
I think it’s great that add-ons exist, it’s great to see the community make improvements to the game interface, that the developers take on board.
I used to be on r/ffxiv, but I’m off reddit now.
I’m a casual player. Joined when the big WoW exodus occurred a couple years ago. I was immediately blown away by just how obvious it was that the game developers deeply care about the players. So many small QoL features; what, you don’t dismount me when riding past a mob? What, I’m not locked into a class? And while I was a little put off at first by the lack of addons, I’ve come to learn that the stock UI is usually more than enough. My mental health is better now that I don’t see damage meters.
I’ve got a bit over 96 days of playtime. I’m doing a second play through with an alt because I’m addicted to the MSQ and the other Scions. That and I wanted experience again the emotional punch that is Shadowbringers and Endwalker.
Casual player trying to make gil via crafting. I don’t do savage content as its hard for me to learn fights via videos and can’t get into a group (hard to commit to a static).
I mostly play for raiding since this game has the best raiding of any MMO I’ve played. I’ve also been playing Final Fantasy games forever, so it’s nice to continue that in a different way. I also do a ton of side content, with Blue Mage being my favorite.
I started playing just before ShB came out. My favorite fight is probably DSR.
Add-ons are great since they can fix a lot of QoL issues with the dated/clunky UI.
I started playing around the tip end of ARR through Heavensward and mostly play pretty casually. I’'m trying to level my gatherers and crafters after so long of putting them off and leveling some combat classes on the side.
I just resub’d today since the mgp event is going on. Played the MSQ from start to finish (vanilla to endwalker) during the wow exodus period before dropping off for some single player stuff. Maxed all of my crafting and gathering jobs but never did much that would be called difficult.
Thinking I might have to learn a new job and finally give some of the raids and trials I never did a try.
I have roughly one hour of playtime and hope to get in the game soon
I switched to nixos recently and only got to installing ffxiv yesterday; I hope to get into it
Right now I’m in soft-break until probably 6.45, so I’m mostly just doing dailies and weeklies and occasional crafting. Normally I’m playing new content or doing completionist-ish stuff. I don’t raid though, not a big appeal for me – but that’s about the only section of content in the game I think I haven’t really done much with. Right now I’ve been running the subs at my FC to keep occupied.
I started playing around 5.4, and caught up with MSQ between 5.45 and 5.5. It’s hard for me to pick favorites in terms of content… I finished my card mount grind a couple months back, which gave me a good excuse to try just about everything at least a little bit. FFXIV claims I have about 195 days of playtime. I’m definitely not a sprout anymore though I look back at those first few months very fondly.
I play on Brynhildr; I don’t use add-ons but I don’t judge those that do. I appreciate that add-ons are pushing SE to add useful features/QoL adjustments for everyone.
My main source of info is r/ffxiv and a variety of Discord servers, though I’m hoping this community can grow bigger over time so I can fully disconnect from Reddit eventually.
Active raider, still trying for the elusive week 1 clear maybe sometime in 7.X, though I may take a break from hardcore raiding in 7.0! Managed to get to Natural Alignment 2 week 1 for Abyssos, and got to Pangenesis in week 1 for Anabaseios, but no week 1 clear just yet.
Other than that though, I’m an MSQ enjoyer and just generally appreciate different aspects of the game, from story, to music, to boss and encounter designs. Seat of Sacrifice Extreme is the best fight in the game.
I’ve been raiding this last and current tier, but I’ve mostly been super casual. My current raid group is still super casual (We haven’t downed p8s yet) but it’s nice since everyone is on the same page.
We use add-ons, but mostly cosmetic or for assisting with housing. I personally have been dabbling in raid alerts so I can be a dedicated callout person, but that’s been a personal goal to get used to speaking during pulls, and being more vocal in general.
As for when I started playing, I still have a character from the 1.0 release, but I very much didn’t play until 2.0. been playing ever since. NA/Aether.
I come from Reddit, and tbh I’m still using it through RiF and a patch to bypass its closure. I lurked a ton on Reddit and have a grand total of 200 points after 14 years of use. I’m hoping to contribute more to this platform than I did on Reddit.
