I might be the only Arsenal fan that feels like this but Martinelli’s lack of a cut in and shoot package is worrying. He never takes the right touch to set himself to hit the ball correctly and doesn’t generate enough separation. I don’t think he’s ever scored a goal like that. It’s one of the biggest parts of inverting your winger…
This I have said a season now.
We don’t have anyone else with his profile at the club so he h will learn it on the job. If we ever recruit that kind of player, I’ll be here justifying things I’ve said for a while.
For now, I hope he learns it.
Tbf Saka can/ does do it which is why I’d love to see Martinelli do it more on the left to reduce the burden on Bukayo. Also Martinelli is more than capable of doing it, it just doesn’t seem like that’s one of his focusses which is disappointing. Adding Pedro Neto in January is a must he’s the perfect compliment to Saka and Martinelli.
