Arteta big brained the summer window when what we needed was much more simpler. Rice has been amazing and we got unlucky with the Timber injury but spending the money we did on Havertz to replace Xhaka was just mind boggling to me, the thing is Havertz will probably do quite well for us I think this season but it won’t be in midfield.
That Havertz decision has cost us big time. We had to make the step forward but we stagnated instead and let Tottenham/Chelsea catch up to us
Xhaka was hardly playing “in midfield” towards the end of the last season because the role evolved. We also can’t keep Xhaka as a deep lying playmaker if zinchenko or another talented inverted LB option is in the team. We gotta let go of Xhaka because we were not using him as effectively as we want to remember because of g/a
if we signed someone like Szoboszlai who can actually carry the ball we’d be cooking
