Goalkeepers should try to give themselves a head start when trying to claim a potential cross if a player is very wide. Should Raya stand on the goal line on the chance the cross finds the back post? If Mudryk crosses the ball into the six-yard box and Raya is rooted to the line then people would also take exception with his positioning. There is risk in football, you cant escape it. You cant cover your back post completely whilst at the same time put yourself in a an agressive position to claim a cross. I would still prefer Raya to take up a more advanced position trying to claim the cross even it leaves the back post unguarded.
