So it appears the big crash was caused by a spectator more focused on filming with his phone than the actual riders. Absolute wanker

I feel like two things make spectators not care / assume no consequences:

      • the lady with the sign that caused the crash 2(?) years ago had no consequences at all, not even fined.

      • the police that’s around the route and especially on mountain stages are extremely passive. They just stand to the side and watch the show without doing anything at all.

If nobody of authority says something and there’s no consequences, then nothing will change.

The underappreciated Teams competition is unusually competitive. The time gap between the top 4 teams at this stage in the race over the last 10 races is as follows:

    2014 - 47:44

    2015 - 36:07

    2016 - 38:59

    2017 - 70:50

    2018 - 47:43

    2019 - 36:22

    2020 - 37:43

    2021 - 32:02

    2022 - 64:39

    2023 - 10:22

Jumbo-Visma, Ineos, UAE and Bahrain are in a battle for the ages. And no-one cares.

It’s funny, I’ve noticed the yellow helmets and number tags changing teams a lot this year, so I’ve been following it. It’s been as close as the GC!

The last time I took notice was during the Movistar trident days, when nobody cared except them.

Finally UAE doing something with Yates. Sadly I think kuss crashing made that possible by letting them isolate Jonas more easily. Amazing that they still come over the line together after all this action. Bring on week 3

if carlton kirby points out WvA’s red bull helmet and says “it gives him wings!” one more time… i’m going to lose it

is he being paid by red bull to mention them every stage??

Haven’t heard him say it this stage although he had plenty of uppertunity for it.

Hadn’t been able to follow a stage in a long time, I was very happy to follow this one. Nice battle for the win in the breakaway, I’m very surprised that van aert didn’t get it, as at one point he seemed so strong.
Also a nice GC battle in the end. I suppose vingegaard comes out the strongest from this stage, it was very a impressive competition.

On the other hand I second what others are saying, something has to be done about those spectators.

Glad Poels finally got a GT victory, shame they barely showed him going over the finish. Great fight again between Pogacar and Vingegaard, wondering if one can put a bit more time between them in the time trail or if they will be as equally matched again.

You have to feel for Wout missing the focus on him. What a win too! Well deserved and fantastic to see him get the win for the split second it showed him!

Top two are insanely evenly matched. They’re both looking spent after every stage. It couldn’t be closer!
