As he said last time, the links with all these players was mostly agent talk. The way some fans want to constantly buy new players makes it seem we are having a bad season. We are joint first with eddie starting and Partey injured for most games. I can only imagine how much better we will be with Jesus up top and partey/rice/ode midfield. We have plenty of options in other areas, but some fans need to allow players to have bad games without wanting to replace them. Barring any major injuries, I think we should not do much business in January and save up for the summer.
Constantly buying new players is sort of how you maintain success though. I’m not talking a whole new squad every window like Chelsea, but at least one or two quality additions.
If you settle with what you deem to be a ‘good enough’ squad you end up with what happened at Liverpool, where they had a UCL/Prem winning team that slowly eroded as players aged, left or decreased in quality.
City are experts at continuing to refresh their squad even when they’ve just won the league (or a treble). I’d be disappointed if we didn’t sign a new forward in Jan as a backup for Jesus or Saka.
This is basically where City are at now - they have the ability to add 1-2 players each window and keep the quality level high.
City are also far better at selling players than we are though, but that’s only because they have players people want. If clubs want your players (because they are high quality) the price gets driven up. Basic supply/demand.
Arsenals last player we had whom everyone would have wanted, and I mean everyone, was Henry.
We’ve managed to sell some mediocre players for over-inflated fees (Ox, Iwobi) but we’ve never sold one of our prime players for what they are worth.
In our current squad, only Saka would likely command a £100m+ fee - and we would never want to sell him so I expect our player sales to continue a similar pattern.

Don’t forget Timber. When he’s back I think he’ll unlock some tactical shift that Arteta wanted to do this season.
Still can’t believe he tore his ACL in his first fucking match. People will still try and say we have no injuries
Especially with how good he looked from so little we saw of him. Title charge or not he feels like such a what if this season
