I´m happy for my mexican homeboys. Was just able to watch the game after the 55th minute, how did both teams play?

I would say Germany dominated most of the possession, but we’re threatening any more than the Mexican team.

Ochoa, the bane of my existence (as an American) made another couple good saves, including one huge one just before Germany scored the 2nd.

Germany looked dangerous at times, but they lack someone willing to play that 40yr ball onto a runner like Boateng. A few times they had a wing player or wide back making a run behind and just couldn’t get it to them.

Süle is responsible for both goals conceded

What do you say, penalty? Strong involvement of the arms, like pulling him down

Idk why but wirtz just doesn’t seem to click with this Germany team, he doesn’t get to show his strengths at all

Maybe it has to do with sharing the middle of the pitch space with Musiala? At Leverkusen, he is the guy for that space and all the other players know how to move to accomodate his vision.

He has also only played a handful of games with the NT after his injury comeback since March. So he also probably just needs more time to gel, especially since a new coach is in charge

Goretzka has been a passenger this second half just like Groß in the first. Really need kimmich back to help Gundogan

A Kimmich Gundogan double pivot is really bad, neither of them can defend good and both like to play more in the attack you risk making your team really bad defensively and with Germany’s defense being this bad, I don’t think that it would be a wise decision to play them both.

The problem with that statement, even though you’re not wrong, is that Kimmich absolutely can defend. The guy was literally a second coming of Phillip Lahm for 2-3 years before the switch to CM, easily a top 3 RB in the world. Why he can’t, or won’t, defend as a 6 in the midfield is beyond me.

He was class in the offense as a rb, in the defense he has nothing, and i mean nothing against the likes of Lahm who was a defending god. I am a Kiimmich fan btw.

He is not a really good defender but he is decent enough to not make big mistakes. He is a second coming of Lahm in terms of attacking plays in right back not as a defender. He is a little bit slow to play in that position because in modern days you have to be fast when you play as a fullback because the tendency today is also to help the team in attack so you have to be fast enough to run the whole pitch from your goal to the opposition’s goal and to be able to quickly turn in defence in case you are needed. And he plays as a deep lying playmaker and not as a CM but as a DM with not having defensive duties as a typical destroyer DM has but of orchestrating the play.
