Djourou shouldn’t be anywhere near this list and Cygan was an invincible - while he was a drop off from Keown as a back-up, he wasn’t anywhere near Silvestre / Squillaci levels.

And Squillaci was a good player until he came to Arsenal so it was more likely our system and midfield exposing him and then his confidence evaporating. He was rubbish though for us.

I remember watching Arsenal play Ajax at Highbury, and the bloke behind me claimed a cardboard cutout would be more use than Cygan 😂

Djourou was abysmal. Do you you remember when he accidentally megged someone by kicking the ball into his standing leg?

Cygan was invincible but you’ve got to be pretty terrible to have your own fans sing “he’s bald, he’s shit, he plays when no ones fit”

I remember going to games at the time and the crowd reaction every time it was announced that he was starting was just total despair lol.

He definitely wasn’t as bad as some of the others mentioned here but the rest of the team was so good that the drop off was massive

I can remember a cygan masterclass. I think it was against Everton, but he won everything, controlled the defence and looked imperious. Almost certainly failed a drugs test after. Similarly senderos had the odd good game too.

Squilacci and Stephanovs (especially him, listen to ray parlours story of how he got signed if you haven’t heard it yet) were among the worst professional footballer I’ve ever seen
